One thing that I don't think has been covered is the location of the receiver. I learned when I was at the factory, there is a wire antenna coming out of the receiver that is supposed to be hanging loose. During production it is getting trapped behind other electrical components. Which means you have poor reception. You might want to check in the electrical compartment to make sure that wire is hanging free.

Where (exactly) is the receiver?

It is in the electrical bay, first mini bay on the driver side. The wire (antenna) come out of the side of the receiver which is mounted on the back wall. There is also a programming button (learn button) in case you need to reprogram your remote near the bottom of the receiver.
