Slide seal replacement

Has anyone replace slide out seals? Though we haven't got a lot of rain in North CA this year we still have had about 9 inches. Thought we had a leak in the roof (again) as there was water in the bedroom of our 2014 Anthem. We pulled in the slides and after more rain, there was no more water inside. Tech came out and we determined that the top seal in the "vanity" slide was leaking. Has anyone had to replace their seals and if so, how tough a job is it.

Not saying it's not the seal, but more common has been the Enternabond type tape used on top of the slide seams. Mine was starting peel on one of my slide on the 14. I replaced it with better quality Enternabond. There have been posts where the tape had peeled off and was missing.

It is worth checking and easier to replace than a seal.

It's also worth noting that when you're in heavy rain, don't have your coach level. Keep the front a little higher so the water runs off better.

Duncan,

I have replaced my slide seals and it is not hard at all. I have not replaced the top seal and for that job you have to remove the slide topper to get to it. What I did was I take the old seal off and cut the new seal to that length. Then I move the slide in a few inches and I replace the slide seal from the outside starting from the top. Any issues just ask.

Good luck.

Good point especially for those in FL. On my Reatta XL I have to manually level it and make sure the front is higher than the rear or get a shower when opening the door (Roof A/Cs drain onto the roof). I think the Anthem has a better way to drain the water from the A/Cs but will still add a little slope for the rain.

I agree with Chuck about checking the tape seals first. Mine started lifting and peeling back a bit. Easy fix to cut, clean and re tap.
