Slide topper problem
We had to head for home today and was surprised to find that the topper on the driver's side slide didn't wind as it should. While standing on a ladder and Ginny pushing the button, we were able to get it to work.
It seams to be missing support in the middle of the roller. I had to lift the roller as she activated the button. Has anybody else had this problem and how did you fix it?

I've never seen a support in the center of a slide awning .
If the awning tube has sagged and is contacting the slide flange and binding , then replacing the awning tube may be required to repair the issue.

On the longer Carefree slide awnings used on '15 Entegras there are supports, sometimes more than one depending on the length.
We had a problem that sounds similar happen once. The roller tube on a long slide had deflected enough with a pool of water on it that it pulled out of the "Roller Support" (red circle - part 7 in diagram) which is attached to the "Deflector Assembly" (part 4). On retracting the slide the roller didn't roll and the fabric got all wadded up. Put the slide back part way out and put the roller back in the saddle by hand. It's worked OK since but I watch the long slides from outside while retracting after a rain.

Similar to rbr, the long DS front slide topper roller on my 14 Anthem was out of the center roller support bracket and sagging, preventing the fabric/roller from rolling in properly. Upon closer inspection I found both screws mounting the support bracket had broken.
After downloading the Carefree manual I was able to lock the roller with a cotter pin, remove it from the right side end cap mount, replace the broken screws in the roller support bracket and reconnect all parts. Now everything looks and operates as it should.

I've actually had that same problem on my drivers side awning topper a couple of times. In fact I just noticed that the topper cover did not retract once again. We were in Las Vegas and the wind there can be very strong. It actually billows the topper and it pops out of the middle guide (like the previous post talked about) and the topper won't retract properly. I have fixed it twice, and hopefully a third time, by using a ladder and a couple of big screwdrivers. If I pry the awning cover back and then pry the topper roller back into the center guide it will once again work properly. Just takes a little pressure.

I had the problem twice - same slide. As the fabric aged out and relaxed more, heavy water would pool and ithe roller would pop out of the support. Brute force was required to get it reestablished, causing a musculoskeletal injury on one occasion. Replacing the fabric with tough topper cured it.

Bob, I found the same problem with the TS. Once the fabric got old the problems continued until the topper were changed.

Thanks everybody for your help. Today I had time to climb on a ladder and forced the tube up over the rollers and it snapped into place. Another problem solved.
Now I just have to figure out why #2 a/c unit doesn't work

I also had this problem and had a tube and fabric replaced. Now I wonder if I really needed to replace the tube.

Continues to amaze me how much good information I get from this forum!
After several days of heavy rain, i decided to retract my sides, the passenger side (Long) room awning did not retract. I noticed the fabric was all wadded up. So thinking the spring is broken I came to IRV2 and now am convinced that the center support has come loose, or I have a pool of water holding the material out of alignment.
Another project for tomorrow!
Thanks all for sharing... I may sleep better tonight!!
