Slight black tank smell in bathroom

We have a slight black tank smell coming from inside the bathroom vanity. I believe this has been discussed here but too lazy to go thru the threads. Any fixes?

Change the studder valve under the sink. Buy the good Studder brand at Lowes or Depot for $25.00 for a permanent fix. Here is a picture of the factory valve that sticks.

Could be a bad "air admittance valve" in the drain line: http://www.build.com/proflo-pf108202...FRE1aQodEzYALw

Two things, one is yes if you have the fantastic fan on while flushing you may get a little of the scent. If that happens just leave the fan on for a few minutes, with the window open, after flushing and the odor should disappear. If the odor doesn't go away, try treating your gray water tank with the tablet deodorizers you can get at camping world/walmart. They are about $8 for a bag of 7, you just put one tablet in the sink or shower, run water on it and it disolves in a few minutes. Sometimes the gray water holding tank can let some odor come up and it smells similar to the black tank. We had the same issue and I tried this and get no more odors. I usually only deodorize the gray water tank after about 3-4 dumps. I would try this before you go replacing any valves ect, it doesn't hurt to do it anyway, and I wouldn't think a valve should be the problem on a brand new MH.

I believe that the sink in the forward bathroom on Entegra Coaches drain into the black tank. This assures that you get enough water in that tank - lots of liquids in the black tank is a good thing

I have noticed that, at least on my Cornerstone, the tanks dump so fast that it sucks the water out of the p traps. It may be more common in the CS due to the different drain hose arrangement. I have noticed it more with the gray tank than the black. I always make sure that I add a bit of water to each trap before leaving the campsite after dumping. A little bleach in the water helps too.

I found the Studor valve at Lowes. Fits both 1 1/2 and 2 inch. The male fitting screwed right in no extra fittings needed. Total cost with tax $30.09. We'll see what happens.

Once again, thanks folks

You might be right as I don't know how yours are set up, and that makes sense. I would have to look at mine and see if I even have that valve you guys are talking about as I know my forward sink does not drain into the black tank. But I do know you can get the odor from the gray tanks also, and in doing what I do we have never had that odor come back even when we have dry camped for a week.

This is the one I replaced the sink vents with. $25.99 at our local Lowes. The Mini fit perfect. http://www.lowes.com/pd_29145-143-82678K_0__?productId=1081741&Ntt=sink+vent&pl=1¤tU RL=%3FNtt%3Dsink%2Bvent&facetInfo=

I was fortunate, I had two left over from a rental sitting in the garage than needed to be used.
