Same issue with my coach..... mileage was 5.8 mpg on diesel drive down to Atlanta. I am pretty sure that "he road it hard and put it away wet" as I mentioned before.... the shifting was fairly rough the first 15 miles I put on it with a test drive to check out the Honda towing system and lights. Once I started driving it my "normal" way (certainly not rough)(my wife is not impressed with either fast starts or fast stops), it smoothed right out and I never gave it a second thought by the time I got to the Alabama line. I'll bet the delivery driver had the pedal to the metal all the way.

Regarding the delivery drivers, once we hit the road and discovered a significant drivability issue, I asked Todd Springs (GM at NIRVC Atlanta) if the driver reported anything along those lines. His response was something like, "We always ask, but most of them don't even know what brand or model they just delivered, much less how it drove."
I won't even go into my delivery driver not reporting problems. It would be a great thing if delivery drivers were paid a bonus to fill out a road report to turn into the dealers. It would sure eliminate a lot of problems before the new owner puts the coach on the road for the first time.

Not only was the first 500 miles covered but 46 hours were already on the generator. I changed the break in oil as soon as I got it home. He did me a favor, at least the generator was checked out and delivered problem free.

Gary,
Your Cummins engine serial # should be on the tag below the driver's seat.
Transmission, rear axle, tag axle and steering gear serial numbers should also be there.

Just an observation I made regarding the mpg at delivery: initially my '16 Anthem did not have the ability to reset the mpg. While at Spartan for my 2 year check up, I had them update the computer to allow me to reset it whenever I wanted. After resetting, it took about 3,000 miles for it to finally stabilize at 8.2. So don't assume the delivery drivers hammered the accelerator. It just takes awhile to establish the mpg over many miles.

Richard:

Thank you very much.... now I have all of that data logged.... and can get access to all of the Spartan information. Their web page lets you register up to four Cummins engine serial numbers. Forgot that it was probably there for my Anthem, or maybe never knew it was there. You the man!! THANK YOU AGAIN.

Slides are all in now and did what the kids do.... remembered to take a picture of all the wall decals/plates and then expanded for my failing eyes.... Perfect !

Stuff gets lost so quickly on this active forum, so I am going to provide the link to the first installment of this .... "Some things I have learned about my 2019 Cornerstone thread, Part 1". A lot of great information is accumulating in this thread and its getting long, so maybe time to start a part 3 soon.

Having the photo of that sticker and the yellow one on the screen door in my phone has sure saved me a lot of trips back to the MH to get one of the numbers.

I have no idea if my mpg can be reset on this beast yet, but will try to figure that out. Who did what and how on your coach to get it to be resettable, just in case?

My delivery driver (Atlanta NIRVC) decided to stop a couple of days to see family on the way to Atlanta. No idea how he drove it, but I’m pretty sure he stayed in it.

I am pretty sure that is against the rules for delivery drivers..... they may be able to stop, but I am pretty sure that they are not permitted to do anything "else" in your coach.

I actually talked to some delivery drivers in Atlanta last time we were there for service. He said none of the drivers run them hard because they are responsible for the fuel to get them to the destination. He also said they get close to the same mileage between the Anthem and the Cornerstone if you run them 62 miles per hour.
I would think there's a lot of idle time on our engines when we get them from the plant. This representing the poor mileage own our displays.

Gary,

While at Spartan in Charlotte I had the tech update it. I had read about the update on this forum. The tech wasn't aware it could be done so he checked with other techs and confirmed it could be done and did it. I don't plan to reset it very often if ever considering how long it takes to reach the peak mpg but it is nice to have the option.

I had the same experience, 46 hours on the generator and the holding tanks 1/3 full. I don't think it left the factory that way, but no proof. Didn't really bother me, I just wish he would have turned in a handling report. We both would have been happy.
