Spartan Academy & Niagara Falls

My wife & I have Spartan Academy scheduled for the week of Aug 12th-16th and are considering heading over to Niagara Falls after that for a few days. As we head south back towards NC I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about other places to stop along the way south. We have 7 or 8 days to amble our way south.

This will be our first real trip in our coach.

Suggested routes, campgrounds, places to go, things to do would be appreciated. See signature below for rig and toad.

Thanks for any input.

Hard to reply without any idea of where you have already been or your interests and 8 days is not enough to cover all possibilities. For instance, have you already done the DC area and Williamsburg? Cherry Hill in DC area. How about Gettysburg? Suggest you also check the Camping, Travel and Trip planning forum for a broader view.

I completely forgot we spent a week @ Cherry Hill RV Park College Park Md. while working in Landover Md. last September. Very nice park nestled within the confines of I-95/I-495 Beltway. I would have never believed it was there had I not stayed there. You are in close proximity to any number of places you may need or desire. The bus tours into Washington D.C. begin/terminate literally at the front gate of Cherry Hill Park, very convenient if you are so inclined.
We look forward to staying there again in the future.

Hi James,

You might consider a stop near here: https://www.frankenmuth.org/ on your way east toward Niagra Falls.

And, there's lots to do near Detroit; Henry Ford Museum (https://www.thehenryford.org/) and Greenfield Village (https://www.thehenryford.org/visit/greenfield-village/). You might want to check out the River Rouge assembly plant tour (https://www.thehenryford.org/visit/f...-factory-tour/), too.

On your way south from Niagra Falls, you might consider the Gettysburg, PA area, including this: https://www.nps.gov/gett/planyourvisit/index.htm

Take care,

Visiting Niagara Falls,NY

Plan at least one day in the Niagara Falls State Park (water Falls.)You can buy a one day pass for all the attractions in the state Park. A good place to stay is Four Mile Creek State Campground. I would strongly advise you to make a reservation. WWW.reserve America .com Sites will have electric and water at various places in the park. Fill up before you park at your site. Dump station available.

Four Mile State Park in the Niagara area was great.

Gettysburg with a guide was one of our best stops.

Where in NC?

Swing by Nappanee for ice cream at Rocker Science. They use liquid Nitrogen to freeze it right before your eyes.

We leave the m.h in Cornwall Ca. We drove down about 6hrs down the US side. We crossed over to Ca side & stayed in a motel. When we crossed over I was thinking I’m glad I wasn’t driving the coach because of the tight corners. Then we drove back on the Ca side to the M.h. A side note we were looking for a place to board our dog. We stopped to talk to a person in our camp site. She said she would take the dog for a few days. The next day we were driving south when my wife said we didn’t even know her name. It turned out good. They had a talking parrot & our dog sat there all day watching the parrot talk. Sorry for the long story. B.

Make sure you cross over and view Niagara Falls from the Canadian side. Easy trip across the border. Just take your toad and tell them what you are doing and you will have no problems and a great experience.
