Spartan CSB14-260-002

All. I received a CSB from Spartan today regarding a condition existing where noise is created from the steering system while static steering idle for vehicles manufactured between Feb 11, 2010 and Apr 2014. The repair os estimated to take approx. 3 hours.

Has anyone else received theirs? is this related to some of the noise issues posted on this forum? it is not a safety recall but Spartan is committed to serving us with their best interests on mind.

Thoughts....?

We got it also but have never had any noise issues. Not really interested in trying to find service for it. Since you also have a '12 have you had any problem?

My 13 has a slight growl at very low speed or while stopped and turning the wheel. I think this is the issue but I have that same condition in pickups and trucks for years and never thought of it as a problem, just normal because of increased torque applied in those instances. All JMHO

I received the notice for my 2014 and will be taking it in to a Spartan center. Will have them check the alignment at the same time.

Some coaches are worse than others. Mine made the recall noise up to 45 MPH with the steering wheel pulsating in your hand. The modification was put together on my MH when it was sent back to Spartan. I have driven one Anthem that was fine at low speed, but another one was terrible.

It is a pressure valve in the steering box and fluid hose change to relieve the pressure that causes the noise, and it some cases pulsating felt in the steering wheel. It's up to you if it bothers you enough to have the update done. Mine was extremely bad and it is now perfect after the mod.

I received the notice but already had some changes made to the steering when the coach was at Spartan in early November. We had some minor noise at low speed, but only after driving a while. They did change some hoses, valves and steering parts and the there is no noise and the steering is absolutely perfect.

This together with an alignment, ride height adjustment and tire pressure as recommended for weight has made the drive perfectly smooth and comfortable regardless of wind and road surface conditions.

Got mine today but have not noticed any issues with this coach. Anthem did have the issue, though.

i have the same issues with mine since delivery. Mine will actually lockup while trying to turn at parking lot maneuvering speeds.
I have not received a notice from Spartan yet. Will get it scheduled when I receive my notification.

It is amazing how the same problem effected so many coaches in different ways. Some hardly feel it at all, some with bad pulsating, and some locking up. I do know how frustrating the bad steering problem was on mine.

The entire fix for our Anthem included parts replacement due to rust (less than a year old). Spartan replaced the Bell crank and bearings and idler arms and bearings. That's in addition to the "standard fix". As I mentioned in an earlier post on this thread, it has all made a huge difference and our coach rides and drives like Entegra advertises.

I'm scheduling the work in Pflugerville, Tx next week. Although I have not had the issue it makes sense to have it checked and fixed as needed.

Look forward to seeing everyone down the road.
