Spartan LED Engine Information Display

Does anyone know where there is a comprehensive guide to the options on the Spartan LED display?

The Aspire 2017 Comprehensive Guide on pp. 34-35 has basic information but does not show what all options are available, what the tests do, or how to reset the Average MPG.

I don't see anything in the Aspire 2017 Owners Manual or the Spartan Motorhome guide.

I've been wondering. I thought I saw something about Cummins and Spartan working on a fix for this? Was I dreaming? It's one of the worst ideas I've seen in a while to not allow us to reset MPG.

Spartan says it was Entegra's decision to disable the average MPG reset. You should have received a Spartan manual on disk with your other manuals that has an extensive guide to the information center. I didn't receive one at delivery and contacted Spartan who sent me the disk.

Resetting the MPG did work until I had the ECM update done at Cummins, now it cannot be reset. If a program took it out, it should be able to put it back in. I will be checking with Ocala Cummins on our way out this summer for any updates.

I think that is a duck and cover move. Entegra told me to call Spartan. Spartan told me it was Cummins. I was told I could take my coach to Cummins anytime I wanted to reset the MPG.

Seems like they all realize this was a bonehead move which Is why I hoped someone could fix it. One explanation I got was that the amount of data that could be sent was limited so it was decided to eliminate the data necessary for a reset.

As Brobox said, if they took it out, they should be able to replace it

Why is Cummins involved?

Cummins is the one that does the engine computer updates. The DIC is part of the engine analysis and it is Spartan and Cummins that are involved in the programming. I was surprised when you mentioned Entegra as they should have nothing to do with MPG being taken out of the program for the engine. I know for a fact, June 29, 2016 that the Cummins updates took the reset of MPG out of the DIC, it is now locked.

Ok. Thanks. Yeah, whoever I spoke to at Spartan CS, said it was "Entegra"'s decision.

I hate to say this, but I think that was a "passing the buck" on who was really responsible for the programing error or problem. The MPG has been changed and I think it's a problem nobody wants to admit to as end uses don't like it. It is 15 years behind times.

Since Freightliner uses Cummins engines and the Freightliner LBCU has resettable MPG I doubt it was Cummins that took the MPG reset out.

Perhaps it is an option that can be programmed in. Similar to the modification I had done to have the engine brake only activate when I apply the foot brake pedal.

I heard yesterday from Entegra that Spartan is coming out with a fix, due anytime. I'm hoping to be able to get it when I get to Charlotte May 1.
