Spartan Owners Training

Just as an FYI .... the training class is expensive, but worth every penny. Entegra (PJ) came on Tuesday and Wednesday and was super informative. He even fixed some "house" problems some folks were having. If you are on the fence about taking this week long course in the future - get off the fence - it is worth it. There are some folks in the class that have had motorhomes for 20 plus years and they also feel it is well worth the time and money spent. IMO

Excellent! We're signed up for the 8/10 session and I am looking forward to it. Unfortunately, since the house will be on the market, DW will be staying behind in case something comes up.

So, what did you do with the pups when your coach was being serviced?

You can take them in the class of you want to. Did the first day, but Carl was a PITA - so, the rest of the service days - they stayed in the coach behind a fence I use for them not to get up front. Carl behaved in the coach! Two other owners brought there dogs in the class. Works out fine.

I totally agree that it is a great course. As to dogs/pups...if they are well behaved...bring them to class! The same goes for service except they can be with you in the customer's lounge area.

I really encourage you to find a way to get the wife to be with you in the class. There is some driver training in the last couple days and the walk around/under the coach with a service tech is just good stuff a co-pilot should be familiar with.

I agree with the value of the class. These rigs have a lot that need to be attended to on a daily basis, therefore knowing "how to " goes a long way.

Just an idea.

Entegra should incorporate this class into their purchase of a new coach. If the new owner takes the class in their first year of ownership it is covered in the purchase price. At minimum the 44 pt inspection will give you peace of mind.

And some first class food too. 2 meals, somedays 3 meals per day. You won't be hungry at any time.

2nd day of class and the dogs would take off to the entrance door for school. Even in the evening they would walk down from the parking lot and stand at the Spartan door. I think classmates were sneaking them treats under the table! They had a great week in there with a bunch of animal lovers. Stella the pig had her own bed in the corner of class and everyone said she was extremely well behaved. Picture of us being educated under our coach in the walk down bay. Very informative to learn and see the underside of your coach. Somebody sent us a mail and said the picture of us under our coach is enlarged and hanging on the Spartan wall. Also below is a picture of our class photo. Met some great coach owners that week that we still stay in contact with. We all congregated one night for a cookout with multiple grills and rows of tables and they all even surprised me with an RV birthday cake. What a crew of classmates! Even the Spartan teachers said they have never seen a cookout, party and camraderie in the parking lot like that...lifelong friendships made.

If I remember correctly, it's about $1,000 for the course per coach. It is limited to 7 coaches. You park on grounds and have electrical hookups. Water is in front of building one, you can dump at the fairgrounds. Start at 8:00 and runs until about 4:30. Spartan provides a continental breakfast an lunch each day. You can also have any maintenance or problems on the chassis side done at this time. If you sign up for an Entegra specific week - A Sr Entegra Tech comes and goes through lots of details on the house side..

Yes, your picture is on the wall. So is Tommy & Bonnie's. Very nice!

There was a discount (I think it was $75) for the class if you are a member of the Spartan International Chapter of FMCA. Membership cost is $10.00. Obviously you must be a member of FMCA. They also offered a discount on parts (filters, belts, etc) while we were at the class, based on the specific size of your engine/transmission. As a member, you receive free shipping on orders over $75.00. Pretty nice goodie bag at the beginning of class and a very nice gift at departure. Highly recommend the class.
