Spartan parts-air filter

Shopping for my PM parts for the bus, and today I was searching for the air filter with canister. I found my best price at $99 with free shipping from two different vendors on e-bay. Some of the highest prices I found for the same were $300+. Prior to purchase I contacted the two sellers for date code info and found that one was 5 years old and the other was 4 years and 2 months old!

I thought I would let anyone know who needs or wants PM parts that when I reached out to Spartan they told me they have discounted parts and free shipping for the month of February. Everything is viewable at their website RVCHASSISPARTS.COM. My air filter was $112 to my front door. For that 10% extra cost above the best deal I could find, I was given a part with the current date code and was told what it was before being shipped. This is just in case I do not need it at my PM appointment and have to stage it in the house until next year. I will see if my experiment since last PM appointment of killing the genny and the dash air when pulling into a campground to avoid excessive dust clouds helped in any way.

Great info. Thanks. As a fellow DIYer I will keep that in mind for when I do mine next year.

I'm kinda wondering how I'm going to wrestle that sucker out of there. I'll be interested in any advice you have to offer when you are done.

Do I have to enter a promo code? I just ordered a new air filter and was charged freight in the amount of $19.95.

Free shipping is probably for the lower 48 only. Offer void in Canada.

Bob,

I was ordering with Todd there via telephone because I wanted to speak to him about the date codes. He was giving me the direction of ordering on their website, and there was 1 drop down to hit as well as a promo code to enter after you hit the drop down. I stopped him from speaking and asked if he would take the order after I got my info. Their direct parts phone is 1-800-722-3025.

I tried to get to their site yesterday after you wrote your post, and that site was shut down for hours. I don't know why. About an hour ago, I received an e-mail from "Big Mike" at Spartan and he said he just returned from a training in Tucson. I mentioned the shut down to him when I replied to his message.

Bob,

I spoke to Spartan this a.m. and they said their interweb ordering system does not entitle Canada to free shipping unless they order by phone. Parts said Spartan is in the process of updating that system to fix the issue, but until then orders by phone for that jurisdiction.

But I am in Yuma,Arizona for the winter and am having them send it here. Guess I'll have to call instead of ordering on the Internet.

Attempted to order on their web site yesterday afternoon using the free shipping coupon code of FEB99FREE and got a "not valid code". Had to call to place the order. Filter should be at my door by Tues or Wed of next week.

Just something to ponder,.....the last time I ordered parts, I called to make sure I was ordering the correct part , as the picture on their website did not look like what I needed, the part number was also not right, from the info. I had.........the gentleman told me that their website was screwed up,and assured me that he had the correct part, so I just ordered it while I had him on the phone at that point. A couple days later, the part showed up, just what I needed, but was charged the full price, not the website sale price($22.00 difference if I remember right) I called and talked with the operations manager of the parts department of Spartan, and he told me that the sale process of sale items are just for online orders, if placed over the phone, the sale price is not honored due to the salesman's time involved on the phone! The only way he could get me my 22 bucks back, is for me to return the part, and re-order it on the web site! He told me to always call to assure the correct part number is obtained, then order the parts on their web page to get the sale pricing..........maybe they have gotten their website straightened out by now.........this was last summer.
I just wanted to pass this on............
