Spartan tech changed petcock on bottom of radiator
We are members of the radiator club two years ago, but continued to see the coolant “eye” level sometimes not stay full? Seemed most noticeable in colder temps, and was not seeing anything indicating a leak (clamped hose, belts, etc always dry). Just couldn’t figure out where it was going?
While at Spartan for annual service this week, we asked our tech if he had any ideas, and please look for a leak. He said the “pitcock” on the bottom of the radiator appeared to have a slow leak. The pitcock was replaced.
Want to mention to the list in case others have also had mystery coolant eye changes without finding an obvious cause.
We will keep watch and post later this season if the pitcock replacement solves our puzzle.

While driving from IN to WA recently I noticed my level was a tad low a few times on the 2,000 mile journey. Had to add about half to one cup each time ( 3 times). Never noticed any leaking when I looked. I will remain vigilant and document with Spartan.

Spartan covered our radiator under warranty, and replacement was performed at Spartan’s Charlotte, MI.
We did as you plan to and documented radiator issues with Spartan, etc.
They did an excellent job, we are pleased with how they handled the issue.

Might the term actually be a "stopcock".... Never heard the term "pitcock" but "stopcock" would be any valve that shuts off the flow of a liquid.

Thanks for the help with correct spelling guys, my error (Kathy posted) -- pitcock was a "Kathy's typo." I didn't have the paperwork in front of me then, do now, and Petcock as written in title of this thread appears to be the correct spelling. FWIW -- Here is how it is written on the Spartan Inspection Findings Sheet:

I have heard it call a petcock since I was a kid. My day was the son of a hardware owner. The definition of petcock is: "threaded valves controlled by a butterfly handle"

DavidH2 - Chassis assembly date Dec 2014, House finished at Entegra Feb 2015 (we purchased new Sept 2015). I am sorry I don’t recall exact date Spartan replaced, but thinking it was 2018. Prior to actual replacement under warranty, we went thru the usual “pressure test” (was ok), and “wait but add coolant” phase (and watching, tightening hose clamp if leak seen). Ultimately, Dx was leaks found in both upper and lower rad sections when Spartan did the replacement (again, Kathy posting so this is lay person descriptions . )
We have nothing but good things to say for how Spartan handled our radiator...no complaints here.
