Step slide problem

Has anyone had their step slide stop working? We sometimes leave ours extended while parked at a campsite so our dogs can easily look out of the door. Tonight when we pushed the toggle switch to retract the door slide, nothing happened. We finally had to gently push it in so we could get out of the coach. We also noticed that pressing the step slide switch now seems to activate the back lighting on the light panel by the entry door. Any suggestions would be great since we're still early in our vacation and want to have the step slide be functional. Thanks.

I found this on another forum. Perhaps it will help.

"The air powered step cover operates on coach air pressure when the secondary air supply drops below about 60 PSI the step cover will not move in either direction.

You can open or close the step cover manually however if you do open or close the cover manually make sure to turn the step cover switches to match the location of the cover. If the cover is OPEN make sure both switches are turned OFF. If the cover is closed make sure ONE of the switchs is turned ON. The reason for this statement if for some reason the air pressure does decide to control the cover you want the electrical portion (switch) to match the cover position, open or closed."

Does it work if you start the engine, and let pressure build a little before trying?

Thanks! I think that's it. We've been at the campground for 4 days without the engine being run. We leave tomorrow and should have our answer, but this makes a lot of sense.

I love this forum!

Sure enough - it was the air! Once I powered up this morning all was back to normal. We're now up in the Bar Harbor Acadia area and are looking forward to 4 days of fun and great seafood! Then it's off to Quebec City and finally northern Michigan...
