Stepwell Cover
Does anyone know of a safety switch to keep the stairwell cover from extending while the entry door is open? Last week while entering the coach, my wife placed her hand on the switch and it extended and knocked her flat on her back on the ground. Luckily there wasn't an injury this time.

Sorry to hear of your wife's mishap. I do not think there is a safety on the step well cover. Ours will open and close with the door open.

We never use ours - if it were disconnected we wouldn't notice. Might consider that approach...

My wife would not like dangling her feet. But she has a switch to control it in her side too, so....

If it's a rocker type switch, can you wedge something under the back side of the switch that would block movement.

Is it electric, or run off the air tanks - if air, drain the tanks when camped?
Mine works off the air tank, but I have read some are electric.

It's air operated and I don't think I can control the air bleed on my Anthem.

Our 2016 is electric but our Allegro Bus was air and I know what you mean about the guillotine slamming out quite fast. There should be an adjustable pressure regulator for that step that is most likely mounted on the firewall in the front cap area next to the generator slide and door lock controls. It's tight quarters but you should be able to adjust it. Personally, I'd just make sure that I don't reach up grab the switches on the side console when entering the coach.

The switch used to activate the slide on our Aspire is a Carling V Series Contura II. It is possible to replace the actuator (what they call the cap - the part you touch) with a locking version. It has a small button within the cap that must be moved before the switch will move. So far though I haven't been able to find someone that will sell me just one or two of those. They are available in many different colors and configurations.
Our slide is air powered but the switch is still electric.

Place a cover over the switch when parked. We had a slide switch that was located next to the satellite controls in my Travel Supreme.....terrible location. I mounted a flip up plastic thumb tack box over the switch, end of problem. Find a small plastic box and place it over the switch.

You could also replace your stepwell switch with one of these safety guarded switches used in military and commercial equipment. You could even wire one of these switches in series with the current switch as a safety. You can find these online at places like SummitRacing.com or in a lot of auto parts stores sold for guys with Nitro setups. The same kind James Bond used in Goldfinger to eject the bad guy from the Aston Martin

Now that brings back memories. I remember seeing that movie in the theatre. One of my favorites, at least for a few years until Roger Moore came along.
