My grey waste water valve became VERY hard to move in and out. It was to the point I was worried it would break the handle. Chad, at Lazydays, suggested I pour a cup of vegetable oil into the tank, add a couple of gals. of water and let it set for a few hours. I did the above and moved the valve in and out a few times while it was draining. Now it is free and smooth as a baby's rear. Might not hurt to do this very few months. Just for your info. Noel

Also spraying the handle when the valves are open with silicone also helps keep them nice and free. Good post and a good heads up.

I would be very wary of putting veg or any oil in my either of my tanks and coating the sensors over a period of time.

If I were you I wouldn't put it in the tank, but FYI the sensors are on the outside of the tanks. Noel

The connectors are on the outside, the contact points (head of a screw) are on the inside and can get coated with anything you put in the tank that isn't water soluble.

Gene,

Had mine off on my Black at Entegra a couple of months ago. No screw through to the inside...it was totally measuring resistance based upon coating on the inside...same issue in the end. They actually tried several different location on the outside trying to get it to measure different readings to ID reasons for the faulty readings. Maybe I'm wrong, but didm't see any hardware that went inside.

I guess I'm thinking old school, but if resistance is still the measurement tool, they can all be affected by inside coating.
I'm a firm believer in using a couple of oz of Dawn to lube/fix anything in our tanks. Its worked perfect for me for the past 3 years on my coach.

I'm not trying to start a dialogue on what everyone thinks. If what you do works for you by all means do it, but if a little vegetable oil is the worst thing that might coat your tank you must be using a lot of Kaopectate. Noel

Mine didn't "seat" so they leaked...highly irritating and...stinky.

Tried the internal liquid fixes...non worked. They're 14 years old.

Replacement is not difficult.

I use silicone grease and spray making sure there is no petroleum in the spray or grease.

The toilet chemical I've used for years has coconut oil in it. Have never had a sticky valve yet, nor has it affected my tank gauge (sensors on the outside of the tank, nothing internal).
