Storage Compartment - 2020 Esteem 29V
The largest outdoor storage compartment on our 2020 Esteem 29V is on the passenger side towards the rear. This compartment is made of molded plastic. We can reach underneath the RV and feel the plastic and have noticed that there is no support underneath the plastic floor. As such, we are concerned about the weight limit of this compartment. It seems like it has bowed a bit with our 22" Blackstone griddle in it, but perhaps that is acceptable. The grill is 32 lbs. and the hood for it is 12.5 lbs. Some people claim the compartment can hold several times that weight. I am curious to hear what others might store back there and if it has resulted in any problems. I have to assume that it's not intended to have any support underneath since our does not...unless it was built on a Friday near quitting time and got overlooked!

Sorry can't help with the Esteem question directly. Though I think you have a fair question, have you contacted Entegra CS?
In the past with plastic shelves, tank tops, etc I've used a thin plywood board to cover the plastic. Doesn't have to be too thick 1/4" seems to work great to spread the weight around and prevent cracks.

I have same rig and cut a piece of 3/4” plywood to place across back of compartment. Then placed heavy items on shelf Did same in other rear compartment. It was easy to do. Had Lowe’s cut wood to size I needed. Plywood is 2/3rds of the depth on compartment so I can get items up on shelf.
Enjoy the journey

I reached out to them this week via email to see if I could get any information. One person claims they told him 250 lbs., which doesn’t seem realistic. So, I’m seeing if I get a different answer and also thought I would ask on here for any real-world knowledge. Thanks.

Interesting. I see how this could work without having to worry about the standard molded plastic holding up.

From your description, I'd be concerned about 250# as well. Though I have been surprised at the strength of plastics and or composites.
Thankfully, it looks like my bump of this thread might have gotten you a better response than I could provide.
BTW, welcome to the forum!

250# is way overly optimistic. I have a 2019 Esteem 29V. I put a full propane tank in that compartment (the only one that it would fit in). It likely weighs less than 50#. It bent the plastic tub and pulled out all the screws that fastened the plastic tub to the fiberglass siding. It was repaired under warranty but I was advised not to place the tank in that compartment. It now has to travel in the toad.

Thanks for the info. Still no reply from Entegra, but I’ll post here when (if) I get a reply.

Entegra email is rarely returned. A call is necessary.
