Stove Top

Do you travel with stove top cover on or stowed away?

My stovetop cover is in our storage unit. I replaced it with a wooden cutting board type cover that stays on the stove unless we’re using the burners. I use the little cabinet for the cover to store cookie sheets and racks.

We travel with the cover on. It stays in place except when the cook top is in use, then we just set it on the bed. The upper cabinet is where the confection racks ride along with the pizza pan. I know from experience the cook tops scratch very easy, darn screw drivers.

Covered all time it’s not in use. Don’t want to deal with something falling on it and cracking, or sliding across it and scratching.

And that just what screwdrivers do.

Cool

Yeah, we always keep the cover on the stove...both sitting and rolling. Has never been a problem.

We removed our granite stove / sink covers the day we brought the coach home from NIRVC delivery and they will stay in our garage until the day before we trade in this coach or sell it. Although we like the look, we actually eat and cook in our coach (some dont) and so there is virtually no time except over night that the covers would be in position during a normal day of living. Further, they weight a ton of weight and take up a ton of space in the drawer below that can be much better used for lids of pans or other storage needs in the coach. We find them about as worthless as the 76 pillows that a new coach come equipped with (which are also removed the same day and stored in plastic bags in a storage unit until we decide to sell the coach) .... pretty, but really? Do we need that many pillows....? Life is too short to move 24 pillows back and forth, and where the hell do you put all of them during the daytime????

Two things our '18 did not come with were a stove top cover and a cabinet above the microwave. Very early we bought a nice black utility board to cover the stove top and put on the rubber feet from the useless cutting board that came in the pullout top drawer (it's in my garage). So the stove top stays covered except when in use, which is often.

So with the help of Voltdoc's pictures I attempted to make a hinged door above the microwave. I started with the shelf and soon figured that my opening would only be about 2 inches tall if I made the shelf to go over the microwave support. I'm guessing that the new microwave that Voltdoc had installed, or the top bracket, was lower than mine; or he had a larger opening. I believe he had close to 4 inches. With hinges and a strut that only allowed the door to go up about 35-45 degrees it just wasn't going to work.

That killed the hinged door idea. So I took the door friction locks off the frame and adjusted them to be a tad easier to pull off the door. Ordered a handle from Entegra and now we have a place to store the stove cover and a few other little items that we were always looking for a place to put. Of course we leave the stove top cover on while driving and don't store anything heavy in the new cabinet while driving either.
