Stud broke installing Progressive EMS

I was removing the power lines from cord reel to install in EMS and the red stud sheered instead of unscrewing. Any suggestions?

Just a guess since I have never taken one apart before but try removing the allen head screw in the middle.

Or maybe remove the other 3 nuts and it will let you remove the fiber board where you could get to the stud.

This looks to be a Shoreline , power cord reel .

The stud goes through into the center of the of the roller tube , and is part of the slip ring housing . I can't remember from the one I had apart if there was any hope of replacing any portion of the slip ring housing .
I think I kept the part because we threw the reel away , but I don't know if it's in my coach or on my golf cart in storage in SoCA.

The wiring attachments were different , as in photo , to have a look at the slip rings , the whole reel has to come apart , including drilling out the rivets that hold the cord wiring plate to the reel .
Damage to the slip rings was the reason we threw the reel away .

If you have the room you could get a threaded sleeve and a stud and repair it that way. It looks like you have some of the original stud proud of the fiber. If you can get to the back to replace the stud that's probably a better solution.

Ray , the couple I was helping were full timers and in three years the slip rings were so bad ; JMHO: contact area and material used not up to 50 amp power heavy use , power into the 5er , was failing .

If your reel can't be repaired, or as you open things up you see any heat damage , then I would look for a different supplier if you want a cord reel .

It turns out that there is enough stud to work if I leave the backing nut off. I tried that and it tightens just fine. I think that will be my short term solution.

Later...
