Had to pick up a piece of wire in my garage and put it someplace better and it was the leftover section of wire that I used when I installed my Progressive, and it was #6 gauge stranded which I got from Lowes on their roll-around wire dispenser. Bought maybe 4' and had about half left over.

Well, in my case, I cut the cord. You don't loose any length. I mounted my progressive right where the cord comes out of the storage compartment. The length remains the same. I sure other MH homes are different, and sometimes one must add cord. But, mathematically, your not changing the length of the cord when you cut the cord, then then install the progressive. If anything, you gain about an inch in distance, if mounted next to the exit hole. Just my opinion. Plus I have a really long cord.

Not that way on an Entegra. We have electric hose reels, cut any off and it will shorten the hose that is on the hose reel. The Progressive mounts in back of the hose reel, not forward, so no gain there.

Good find, I wish I had known about that before I wired mine. It would have made the job much easier.

Yea brobox, I can see that would be a problem in your case. The reel setup sounds like a nice setup! Certainly beats the old fashion way. Good point.

With mounting the surge protector in the coach, is there a way to bypass it if it fails? I have the external model which I lock to the power pedestal and it failed on one trip. I checked the power with the meter and then connected the coach directly to the power pedestal. EMC sent a replacement but it took a week for me to receive it.

Yes the HW model does have a by-pass switch and it still leave the surge protection in place while Progressive sends a new plug-in board. Below is a copy and paste from the manual.
ByPass |
This switch is located on the remote display and allows
the user to bypass the EMS in the event of failure, thus allowing
AC power into the RV. This
does not
disable the surge protection
portion of the EMS; however, all other features are disabled.
