I read through this thread, and I am not sure what my 2015 Cornerstone has for tag axle control.. Does the golf T idea work for this unit or does my unit have the Hadley system? I do not see an LED that comes when I push the button.
And with normal use, when I take a corner do I need to dump this each time or is this done automatically?
I can appreciate the need to have a better turn radius and if raising the tag is the solution I am all for it! I had a Monaco 40' DP and it would turn on a dime, this 45' unit seems to take a few three point turns just to get it around my property!
The only thing automatic on the Classics dump valves is the air dumping when put in reverse. For situations you described I would have used the golf tee. Most standard turns, I don't worry about dumping the tag. I have to make a tight U turn leaving my storage area. I hit the tag dump while sitting at the light, I can make the turn little easier.

I can't see a big difference in turning radius dumping the tag air, but you might in tighter situations. I can say the scuff marks from the tag will not be as dark raising the tag.

My previous 38 foot shorter wheel base also had a much shorter turning radius than my 43 ft, it was 5 ft shorter.

I believe that coach owners are WAY too concerned about tag axle tire scuff IMHO. I had my Anthem for 3 years and the tread depth of the tag and the drive Michelins were exactly the same..... That tells me this is not a big issue in normal use. And I know that for about $2500, I could buy a new set of tag Michelin tires, even if I wore them out. This is not a big issue for virtually any of us.

I now have passive steerable tag axle tires on this Cornerstone and I have been watching other Cornerstones and Newmars here at the dealer making 180 degree turns at very low speeds, and I have yet to see one with a passive turn tag axle doing what I would consider enough of a turn change to make it justify the additional cost of the passive turn tag. I may change my mind, but at this point, my impression is that this is a solution in search of a problem.

I used my tag dump less than a handful of times in the whole time I had and drove the Anthem (~30,000 miles).

I agree with you. The tag dump could be left off the coach altogether and I would hardly have known the difference.

But how did you figure to spend $2500 on two tag tires? Are they made of gold?

Luckily I have never had to replace one of these 295 Michelins..... so I just guessed at the most ridiculous price that I thought I might spend ($1200) per tire and rounded up a hundred.... Are they a lot cheaper than that?

Is that a callsign?

Now to your question. This is my opinion (derivable from my post a few posts up). Unless you are doing something atypical, the proper place for your hands are on the steering wheel, not fooling around with tag axle dump switches. There are some things you might do, but for driving 99.5% of the time, the tag will take care of itself, and some tire scuffing on the tag is the way it is designed. Semi trucks have been dragging their tires sideways at each turn for 80 years. So, unless you are trying to turn your coach around on a dime, or maybe back into your house driveway on an uphill grade, or having to go through a series of 20 180 degree switch-backs to get into your 5 mile long driveway at the top of a 12,000' peak in Colorado , dont worry about what the tag is doing and just drive and have fun. If you wear out the tag tires going sideways, just buy another set. (I'm told they dont really cost $1250 each (Thanks Marc !!) ).

Tag Axle Dump

Hello, we have a 2015 Aspire & where I parked it I had to back up to get into the driveway. I scratched up the mud flag backing up. I tried to tie it up but that didn't work so when I was at Spartan I quietly talked to a tech & he gave me a wiring driagram & there is a pink wire that runs from your dash switch to the dump valve. You cut that wire & reroute it up to a switch on your dash so you can cut that circuit. I didn't do that I got a track hoe took a tree down & widen the driveway & now I can make the turn without backing up.
I do use the tag dump when I make a tight turn in a parking lot etc but not on the street. I was told that it doesn't make much difference as far as wear but he isn't buying my tires.
Dw was on a ice patch when we first had the coach & the drivers were spinning. I had her dump the air & was able to move without any trouble. Just my thoughts b.
