Tail Pipe

Sparing the full details, I knocked loose mid-ship engine tail pipe of a rented 2022 Vision 29F, and ran over it with the back wheel. RV tech came and cut off the damaged part outboard of a hanger. Open end of exhaust faces down and tech said no danger of fumes in coach; in fact, no need to replace. However, since the unit is new, owner will want to replace damaged part. Any idea what the cost will be in eastern Virginia? Thanks for any help. Want a fair deal.

If all you are looking for is a new chrome or stainless steel downturn end-piece, you can find those all over the internet. Most of us with big 45 footers have long ago gotten rid of the cheap, rusting, and pitting downturn exhaust pipes placed on rigs by the manufacturer and have replaced them with nice, fancy, stainless steel Gibson tailpipes that look great and last forever.

To be legal, the exhaust pipe needs to clear the coach.

Depending on where it was cut, you can add an exhaust tip and/or a step up/down pipe extension, then your exhaust tip.

Good news, it is a relatively easy job to do. Most auto parts stores will have what you need.

I will point out that most stainless steel Cummins exhaust pipes will turn a lovely "bronze" color after use.

Stainless steel on the genny or the AquaHot will stay nice and stainless looking with use.

Twice, I've bent mine from jackknifing my Trailer getting in or out of a pit spot. All 5'" ends are way too long, so I wind up getting a downturned and chopped off a few inches from both ends to fit and not extend too far. The downturn winds up looking more like a baloney tip.

OP needs to post a picture. This coach is a gas coach, so the exhaust probably exits left side just ahead of the rear wheels. By the description in the OP, a tech cut off part of the exhaust pipe.

Without seeing a picture I can only speculate that an extension for the exhaust pipe needs to be fabbed up and attached. This should be easily and inexpensively done by most any exhaust shop (if they will crawl under it outside). Then any dressy end tip added if it was part of the original exhaust. Otherwise, the whole end pipe would need to be purchased and installed. This might be pricey.

I did the same thing about a year ago on my 2017 Canyon Star. I left it like that for about eight months then replaced it with Banks Power Pack which included headers and exhaust......parts were about $3k.
