Tampa Show

I am considering moving to an Aspire so was looking hard at the Tampa Show. I was really surprised they did not display the 38M or 40P as I expect there is a good market for a non-tag coach.

I heard there was a meeting to get suggestions on improvements. Anyone who can comment on what suggestions were made? Were there any interesting announcements about changes for 2018?

The dinette cabinet has a nice pullout drawer for a printer and should have a similar pullout up above for a laptop computer.

Of course it would be nice if there were a left side DEF fill on the 38M

Overall it was a nice display of coaches at the show.

Some have criticized the use of Goodyear tires on Aspire. What is the noticeable difference? Is it worth an upgrade charge?

What are the problem areas or things to carefully check on the 2017 Aspire?

If you are still in Florida, RV One in Orlando has a 40P on their lot right now

We were told that 2018 Aspires will have Michelin tires. Goodyear tires on RVs are horrible. Do a search for "tire rivering" for a sample of the Goodyears issues.

There were a few mentions from Entegra about 18 improvements. As I am sure they won't comment on large items, the items they did state we minor. I would imagine that probably on the Aspire or Insignia line they may do something larger. Who knows. Maybe someone will comment on what they said on improvements in the owners meeting we had. I can't remember exactly what was said, except 750HP turbine engine for Anthem and a rooftop hot tub.......JOKING.

Entegra doesn't make that many non-tag units but believe NIRVC in Atlanta might have a 40P in stock...give Tony Morse a call...if you frequent this owner's sub-forum often you know NIRVC comes highly recommended by many.

Do yourself a favor and upgrade to Michelins or order a 2018 and get it baked in. Thought Pat Carroll did a great job at the suggestion meeting, love his sense of humor but then not everyone gets mine either. He kept 2018 info pretty close except for the Michelin tip and a few other small things. There was a fair bit of discussion on placement of the induction cooktop and protection of it, features found on other coaches (like bathroom exits on Newmars), easier access to sides of bed for changing sheets, enlarging the toll window and driver's side window in general, etc. I'd have to look through my notes for all the items discussed but lot of good dialogue I thought. And yes, except for non-tags they had a good number of varied coaches on display. Don't know how the sales side went but know the Entegra service team led by Mary did a great job trying to get everyone's short list addressed, at least for the few I talked to. Was also glad to hear at the Entegra dinner about the two year warranty staying around as well as the two year PDI in some name at least. Increased management attention within Jayco on the Entegra line, obvious praises in Joyce's direction noted.

Heck, you had me going on the hot tub. In Sequim WA at a fuel stop a worker asked me if I had five bedrooms in that big coach to which I responded: no, we had to lose 2 of them to fit the sauna in. Life is good...

I'm on my second set of the 295/80-22.5 GY 670RV tires used on the 2016 Aspire and the 2017 Insignia (I think) with solid front axle. Even the guys installing them said most of them WILL NOT balance. Also said the issue seems to be mostly with just that size. I'm told the 2017 Aspire has an independent front suspension and got 315/80 GY tires and that they are not as prone to balancing problems. Also, AFAIK, you don't have an "option" to get better tires on a 2017 Aspire, unless you can get the dealer to swap them to SOB after arrival.

According to a conversation I had with a Entegra production design person the tires will be changed and the plastic exterior doors will become metal. Sales people have said the price will probably go up about 5%. The final amount will depend on several factors to include supply vendor increases. Overall the other changes to the 2018 Aspire will most likely be minor compared to the 2017 Aspire changes. The changes to the 2017 Aspire were major compared to previous model years. Dealers like NIRVC that had unsold units in stock were making some very good deals with some Entegra money to sweeten the deals. The bottom line is that when the 2018's Aspire reach the dealers the consumer will probably end up paying $15,000 more.

The exterior doors on my 16 Aspire are metal, as far as I can tell.

I THINK he might be talking about the macerator door which is cheap plastic on the 2016 and 2017. They are very prone to break at the hungers and the cost of paint for a new one is through the roof on some of them because they have 3 colors on that little door. So cheaper to put a good door on to start. JMHO

The 2017 Aspires at the Tampa show had 315/80/22.5s

When they went to IFS on the 2017 Aspire they bumped up the size from 295's. Believe several of us have had trouble with those. Also, the 2016 Aspire macerator door wouldn't even swing forward (they at least fixed that for 2017) so if you need to use your hose forward of the door you can easily snap it off...ask me how I know. My understanding is that they are honoring warranty replacement though because with all the colors it could easily become a $750 piece of cheap plastic. Glad to hear they are doing a real fix.

I got a kick out of the hanger-queen Prevosts, Foretravel and Newelsl that they would only let you peer in the windows.....shown by appointment only! For what they cost they should be able to sit outside like everyone else and exihibit their superioir performance.

Seems like that show really cramps the vendors area to allow the hanger queens to be inside the building.

Otherwise it really is a huge show with lots of every brand coach (or any RV) to look thru for ideas.

The Entegra dinner was very nice! It still played up on the Bondragger "family image" for Entegra. I wonder if Entegra coaches were in the mix when "it all started with one camper in a barn." It all seems a bit disingenuous when the history shows Jayco bought Entegra and then the Bondraggers sold the whole shooting match to Thor. There were many promises of Entegra operating autonomously from Thor and keeping the 2 year warranty and "PDI." but some weasel words thrown in to allow for adjustment in policies. Still good to see the folks from Entegra there doing their usual best!!

Hopefully Michelin has upgraded their drive tire compounds on the motorhome tires to improve or eliminate the sidewall checking and cracking with age. At just a few years I have other campers warning me to replace the rear tires on our '13 Anthem due to the checking of the sidewalls on the rear tires. Not just the outside tires, either. The inner (out of the sun) sidewalls are checking the same way

Unless start to see cord at the bottom of the sidewall checking I will live with it but I will think long and hard about replacement when necessary. These tires will never make it close to 7 years of age before the checking will become an issue I predic. They will obviously be far from worn out otherwise. I'm not sure an "upgrade" to Michelins on the rear is a plus for long term expense if you plan on keeping the coach.
