Texas - Fun - Snow

We went down to Texas to have some fun and get out of the Midwest winter for a while. We are having fun but the winter found us.

It got down to about 12 last night a little north of Houston.

Our coach is nice and warm but we are in for a few days of cold weather outside.

We were headed to Dallas yesterday but we called a weather audible and stayed parked.

I learned a lesson yesterday. The coach exterior steps get slippery real quick.

5 or 6 inches of nice snow here in Shreveport ...... greatest snowfall amount in 17 years we have been here. 7 degrees tomorrow. We won't be going anywhere for another 3 or 4 days !!

Hopefully that snow on your slide toppers melts before you need to leave.

Here in Houston (Kingwood) from New Hampshire for a few months. It's currently warmer in our home town in southern NH than it is here. There's about an inch of snow here. Of course that's nothing compared to what we get in NH but nobody is really prepare or equipped for it here.

I spent much of the weekend preparing the RV. I think I did everything in the book so hopefully all okay.

I'm originally from New Zealand and would be perfectly happy never to see snow or ice again. The novelty of it wore off real quick after the first month or so when I moved to NH from NZ about 20 years ago.

I saw the news release about the real possibility of rolling blackouts in Texas for at least the next two days. Having their own fuel/hear/power source on board are going to be pretty well appreciated by those of us who have rvs I’m thinking. Half of the wind generators are froze up, so probably be some damage to them longer time I suppose.

Yep, that's why we brought the RV to the house yesterday and parked in the driveway much to the disgust of the home owners association I sure but hopefully it will be gone by the time they get too upset about it. We've asked and the immediate neighbors don't mind at all. It's usually parked on an empty piece of land owned by a friend about a mile away outside the HOA area.

This was Sunday morning in Las Cruces, NM. And it snowed a few more hours after this pic. Our original plan was to be in Oklahoma on Sunday but changed course last week to stay south. Gonna stay south for a while!Click image for larger version

Power went out at 5:30 this morning. Made mistake of starting generator in garage. Ended up pulling out in driveway. Looking like going to spend the night in it since house getting cold and they said maybe tomorrow or Wed before we get power back on

I was wondering about gen in a garage. My coach is in a bay with power and heat but no walls between coaches. There is no one normally there. I wondered how long I could run a gen or aqua hot before fumes became problematic?

It's for our 15 year old dog. Notice the narrow, staired RV spots. No room to sit outside. If the weather permitted!

Kind of thought that could be the case. Nothing too good for our furry friends. I did notice the narrowed size of spot, a little strange for sure.

We are in Tomball, just northwest of Houston our hwy 249. Pretty much the same here. Lived most of my life in Houston area and never had any weather like this. I wish the northern folks would leave their dang weather home.
