Texas sized dip

Going into a picnic area today just south of Post, TX. Hit huge depression-took the generator cover right off. Rather poorly atttached IMHO. Got it bolted back on but it's all busted up. Suggestions on getting it replaced??

Not sure where in Texas you are but try calling National Indoor RV Center in Lewisville, Tx. They have a great body shop and are Entegra dealers in the Atlanta area so they could get the cover, paint and install it. PM me if you need a phone number or check their website for contact information.

What a weird coincidence. Earlier this year I did the EXACT same thing as you at the EXACT same picnic area. I know exactly what you are talking about.

Here is the thread I posted when it happened. Read through it, as there are some really good suggestions on how to fix it. Using advice I got on the thread, I was able to fix my cap myself at a cost of only about $20. Today it looks as good as new.

Sorry, after re-reading your post, I see you probably have more extensive damage than what I had. Sorry about your mishap, and I hope you get it fixed quickly and easily. Perhaps Entegra could send out a fully painted generator cap, and you could have a local shop install it?

I had extensive damage on my last MH while towing to my generator cover. A body shop that does a lot with Corvettes repaired it with fiberglass and painted it to look like brand new.

X2 on Gene's recommendation. If NIRV are not able to get scheduled, I have used North Texas RV Repair just off I-35 in Denton on hwy 380 with good results.

It's back on. 4 bolts all the way through the fiberglass. It will have to do until we get home.

Aerodynamics are a good thing until you hit the big depression. Hope others will benefit from our experiences.

Strange, I thought CA had the worst dips in the roads (at every bridge end)!

Entegra needs to redesign that mounting for the cap. All of the bolts are down low with nothing at the top to stop or steady it when it gets bumped and apparently it pops right off. I have heard of that happening to several coaches. Apparently it is very common if you have to be towed so if you do, the first thing to do is take those 8 bolts out and stow that cap before it gets broken by the tow truck. JMHO

Excellent advise, I leaned that one the hard way on the Travel Supreme. The second time we were towed it was removed and in the bathroom before the tow truck driver arrived. There is not much clearance there between cowl and tow truck boom.

A Corvette body shop repaired mine to look brand new.
