Smile Thank You, Thank You, Franko Foto

As result of Frank's discovery of loose slide motor bolts on his unit, I checked mine also. The driver's side, passenger side, and under the bed were a little loose after 4 1/2 years, but not too bad---tightened all. The motor for the vanity slide which is inside the Tag wheel area was too hard for me to access and check. Turns out my competent RV repair facility today did check that motor and discovered all 4 bolts were finger loose. FIXED and probably averted a "down-the-road" tragedy later on.
Thanks Frank & the Entega forum.

So happy it helped. As you probably know I wire tied mine and hopefully they won't come loose ever again. I do need to do the vanity motor though, and when I go to Spartan next month I am hoping I will have an opportunity to get under there and complete the job.

Like many of us I follow this forum regularly and it has been a wonderful way to keep up with things. When I was at Chandler this winter I asked a (former) Entegra executive if they ever checked this forum, and he told me they checked it every day - without fail - so our comments and advice and complaints, are being seen.

I checked the 3 motors I could get to last weekend, and all 3 had all 4 screws loose, took at least a turn or more to tighten. Have to tackle the vanity side on a cool day - but soon. Will lock-tite and consider the wire fix - certainly will inspect annually.

If you only tightened them, it won't last. You need to use locktite or safety wire, or they will come loose again.

Loose slide motor bolts

I have a 2014 Cornerstone, bought it three months ago. I checked my slide motor bolts -drivers side front and passenger side front. All were loose. Can someone tell me how to access the bed slide and vanity slide motor. Thanks for your help. ML

Bed slide motor, lift the bed up. Lots of storage under there too.
Vanity slide motor is behind a panel above the rear tires....not fun to get to.

While you are on slide motors, carrying a set of sheer pins is a good idea. If a slide is ever put into a bind, the sheer pins are designed to sheer instead of damaging the motor or slide. I purchased mine at Ace Hardware.

Hi All,

Checked my slide motor bolts and 3 out of 4 motors had loose bolts. (Saving the vanity slide for a cooler day). Found some Loctite (Blue Gel) and getting ready for the job tomorrow.

Does anyone have the torque spec for the motor bolts. Looks like the motor housing is either white metal of aluminum, so i don't want to strip the threads.

Cheers,

Air Force torque, snug plus a 1/4 turn. Worked on USA defense jets, should work on MH's

I had this happen and have 2 spare sheer pins in the tool box now!

Same here. Hard to get a torque wrench in there anyway.
