Tire pressure difference

How much of a difference is there in setting tire pressure while still on the jacks versus off the jacks?
Later...

Awesome! Exactly correct.

The volume of the tire doesn't change just because you raise the jacks.

Take care,
Stu

Cool, I was thinking the added weight on them would increase the pressure.

Hi - Absolutely right. BTW I had someone on another board go into a 4 paragraph diatribe telling me how that was wrong. After all the magic physics, he was still wrong.

Tire pressure

Trying to setup TST tire monitor High and LOW TIRE PRESSURE.
Label inside coach 100 psi cold
Tire 110 psi cold
Which is right?
What should be the High pressure for TST tire Monitor?

WELCOME!

Until you weigh it, go by the GVWR sticker (100 PSI).

After you weight it, go by your tire manufacturer's tire inflation chart for your tires and weight (plus a 10-15% addition for a safety margin).

High is pretty well irrelevant, as a large part of that variable is ambient temperature and sun.

Tom, since Boyle's Law is pretty well established, it must have been fun to have "magic physics" explained to you. Just a question, was it Penn or Teller who was explaining the magic?

Take care,
Stu

I once tested it on a cold morning.

Cheap digital device.

Measuref front wheel with about 900lbs on it .
3 times on the ground, after that jacked uo , so exact zero lbs on tire, and again 3 measurements, again down 3 , up 3 , down 3 measurement, and within a inacuracy marge the pressure stayed the same . Not exactly, at the end of the 15 measurements the pressure was on the ground a bit lower, because every measurement some air escaped when pushing the device on the valve.

On this site somewhere also tested acurately
http://https://www.coyoteents.com/temperature-and-tire-pressure/

And at 10 psi , 1 psi difference, but at 35psi no difference.

If the air was replaced with water in entirety, Pascal's law comes into play as the tire deforms under increasing weight.
Everyone is arguing for an element they cannot measure precisely, outside of a lab.
