Tire Question
My rig has Goodyear G670, which I want to replace. The rear tires are all 275R80-22.5. Calling around all I can find are 295R80-22.5 in Toyo or Michilln. The tire shop is telling me the 295's will be fine. Should I be worried about the extra 20 millimeters.

I replaced my G670s with Continentals through the FMCA discount program.
Very happy on all counts. Worth a check.

I went from 295/80r22.5 to 315/80r22.5 without any clearance issues. The larger tire can run lower pressure for an even better ride.

Just an idle curiosity question. Why do you want to replace them?

They've aged out and they are notoriously bad tires. Not just with blowouts but also just the quality is lacking.

Tire age would be a good guess.....

Actually, the 295/ 75R22.5 is a much closer match to the 275/80R22.5.
So, search for them.

Exactly. Note the difference in diameter.

All great comments on this thread. Please consider the width difference between the 275/80 and the 295/75. The 295 is 20 mm wider (about 3/4"). In performing thousands of installations over the years, we have learned (the hard way in some cases) that the 295 is too wide on some coaches. Please check the clearance in the steering tubs. Perform this easy test..... While parked, turn the steering wheel to the extreme left or right - while the wheel is still turned, then feel the clearances up in the steering tubs and around the body of the coach. Make sure there there is still plenty of clearance. Once again, we have learned going from a 275 to a 295 does work on many coaches -- on others -- there is not enough clearance. - Also - there are the same issues going from a 295 width to a 315 width tire -- please check those clearances!!
Safe travel everyone

I beleive that the OP had suggested that he was considering replacing the tires on his drive axle. Is there any concern regarding wider tires installed on a dual axle? How much wider of a tire can one go without having the sidewalls 'kiss' when flexing under load?
Take care,
Stu

Very good question - I almost put 295's around mine a while back when I found a mis-match on my drive axel on sizes.
I put the Goodyear's back on the rear in 2016, and the age question is creeping up on me now. I think I am going to look at the Toyo's for the rear. My steer is newer Michelins, so I'm good on those for a few more years.

This issue was resolved for me since the previous owner had installed tires a different size than specified. The installed size provided many more buying options.
I went with Yokohama RY023 because that was what was already on the rear. They were 10 years old with no cracking and I liked the ride. Got them from Motor Home Tires.

Thanks everyone for the input. I went with the Toyo 295/75r22.5. It was the tire recommended by Les Schwab in Bend too. Since they are my drive and tag tires, I don't think there will be any clearance issues.

Always a good question.
See post #8 above. The 295's are .2" wider. Extremely unlikely that this would present a problem, but only takes a few seconds to measure.
