Tire replacement

We had a blowout of our tag tire. The only available tire from the tire shop coming to our rescue was a Toyo. So we replaced both tag tires with Toyos. Now wondering if we should replace all others with Toyos or can we run others with Michelin and tags with Toyos? Any input would be appreciated. Our MH is a 2015 Entegra Anthem 42 DEQ.

If the tires are the correct size, there's nothing wrong with running tires from one brand on one axle and tire from another brand on another axle.

That said, if you had a blowout on the tag axle it is certainly time to inspect all your other tires. If your coach is from 2015 I'm wondering if the tires are also from 2015. If so, they are all due for replacement now, or pretty darned soon.

If your coach has the original tires probably dated 2014, they are all due to be changed due to age. If one blew out, the others may not be far behind. 7 years is pushing Entegra tires due to the weight of the coaches.
Nothing wrong with Toyo's, I would change them all if that are original tires.

I second what Chuck said. And they are likely closer to 8 years old than 7 years. The Chassis are often built many months before the coach. Then it takes months to build the coach. Therefore the tires are often a year or more old when the coach is delivered.

Do check the date code on your next set of tires to make sure you aren't getting tires that are a year or more old before you even purchase them. Remember the 4 number code on the tire are the first 2 the week of the year of the tire build and the last 2 are the year. a number like 3418 would be a tire built the 34 week of 2018.

I "third" what Chuck said. If your tires are OEM tires and been on there the life of the coach, it is time to get rid of all of them. Toyos are good tires, but I'd probably put Michelins on the steers, regardless of their price, and then Toyos the rest of the way.

IMO, you want the best tires made on the steers !

Also, you can easily check the "age" of all your tires. Each is manufactured with a four digit date code (the week the tire was made and the year it was made. For example, if my tire was encoded with (0621), I would know that it was manufactured the 6th week (February) of 2021. Date codes should always be "out" so you can see them easily. However, date codes on inside dual tire pairs are often impossible to see. However, if the outer tire is old, you can bet the inner tire is old,

As others have already said, your tires are probably at least a full year older than the vintage of your coach. The operative saying/adage is: "Coach tires will 'age out' before they 'wear out' " Sad fact !
