To go... or not to go...

Question for anyone who has done the factory tour....

I just found out I'm able to alter my travel plans next week and visit the Entegra Factory... I called and spoke with Cody and he said there is no production next week.. they'll still do the tour and we'll be able to see everything, just nobody will be working in the plant...

Should I go... or should I go when they're in full production mode ?

Thanks

Do the tour. It might be even easier to hear and see more details with no one working. There will be plenty of coaches in production to see.

We actually did the tour after hours when no one was working and it was great. You will be able to see how they do everything and without the noise and getting in the way.

By all means go and observe. plenty to learn about the way the coaches go together. I would be interesting to observe cleanliness, orderliness etc of work stations as vacated. Also time to ask questions about how certain tasks maintain continuity when the work picks back up. Continuity of many jobs is key to quality and it would be neat to see how the hand off is handled.

Then, by all means take the tour at a later date for a comparison. Likely to leave a completely different impression! Should be a very interesting comparison if you have already seen it vacated.

I don't recall seeing this mentioned in the various posts about factory tours - are you allowed to take pictures? Seems like this might be OK, without workers present (Amish, worker privacy, etc.). I can understand if you are not allowed... Just curious...

Someone better be there. My PDI is scheduled for July 5th and I am driving 1,200 miles to be there.

No production for 2 weeks. Can't say about pdis. People will be there for tours but don't know what else will be going on

I guess I won't be tempted into a 2017. Maybe that is why they scheduled me for that period.

They don't want you taking pictures on the tour. I suppose if you are seeing your own coach they might let you take a few shots. At the Elkhart tour this spring they asked us not to take pictures.

Easy Answer: YES!

While you won't see the factory in motion, it's an ideal place to ask question and get answers at the factory level.

Same at Newmar, again due to the Amish workers.

No worries Chuck... Cody actually told me the Service Dept. would be in "full swing", just not the production plant...

Actually... I'm supposed to call them on Tuesday/Wednesday to find out if any of the coaches being serviced will be "inside", which would leave a parking spot open for me Wednesday night... if nothing is available, I'll be relegated to the side of the road for my overnight stay...

Picture taking at Entegra has also been curtailed due to pictures finding their way on to the Internet, or used by a competitor and an Entegra specific build process or technique being used against them or taken out of context.

Chuck I'll trade you PDI dates so I'm not tempted into the 17's, it'll be allot cheaper for me!
