No splicing required. Plug and play and bend at akward uncomfortable angles and bump your head and skin your knuckles a time or three.... the usual.

Automatic Transfer Switches from Progressive Dynamics

Gary
Gary - I guess I misunderstood. I'm not looking for a transfer switch.

I thought you said the company, Progressive Dynamics, that makes the transfer switches was sold. I knew Progressive Industries, the company that makes the EMS surge protectors had sold, but hadn't heard anywhere that Progressive Dynamics had a new owner.

Progressive Dynamics is a different company than Progressive Industries. I think the name similarity is causing confusion.

Michelle:

I don't know anything directly about the company Progressive Dynamics. I may have misunderstood or been confused in my response. Progressive Dynamics is simply the company that DOES make transfer switches that some owners have found to be a superior model and to have fewer failures than the TRC switch. Hawgguy is one of the fellows that has installed one. I did think that Progressive Industries was bought out by another company that my memory was manufactured transfer switches and I thought that there was a possibility that Progressive Industries now offered a beefed up transfer switch with a better EMS surge suppressor incorporated. However, when I checked their web page, there is no such beast and then I saw Bob clarify that what he installed was a Progressive Dynamics transfer switch and he was happy with it. Sorry of any confusion that I created.

I had a Progressive Industries 50A hardwired EMS on my last coach. Love it, worked great. If I ever have to change out the transfer switch/EMS on this coach, it will be another Progressive Industries. About once a year it Progressive EMS would find a pedestal mis wired or with a bad leg and would not let power thru. From the time shore power was turned on it would take about 15 seconds for the EMS to check to make sure everything was ok before passing power on to the coach.

I also use a separate surge protector due to the nature of the one installed already (one and done). I considered changing out the current transfer switch/EMS with a Progressive Unit but it appears that the current unit talks with the VegaTouch and not sure if the Progressive would.

I mounted it with self tapping screws to the wall about 3 inches below the transfer switch.

Sorry, I meant wiring. What does it need to connect to?

There was a 2 wire Molex connector to the original TRC transfer switch, I am not sure precisely where it terminates - I *think* the Power Control System. 2 power wires from the transfer switch carry 120V to the transformer and the 24Vac output goes to either the PCS or inverter.

Before I added the transformer I would not hear the beep when connected to 50 amps.

Cruzer can give you the definitive answer since I used his idea.
