Transfer switch connections ‘21 Anthem

Does anyone have a picture or diagram showing inside of transfer switch with identification of power source on wires and any failure components? I’ve heard there is a fuse.
I am getting power from shore ok but yesterday no power from generator. I verified circuit breaker on generator was turned on.

It would be very unusual to have a fuse/breaker between the generator and ATS. On-generator, yes. In main breaker box, yes.


Obviously, there is a connection point where generator wiring is connected to house wiring on its way to the ATS.

WITH ALL POWER REMOVED, open the trasfer switch and look for burnt or damage wires or terminal or other. Ensure all wire connection screws are tight.

If no observerable problem, and YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH WORKING WITH POWER ON, use a test meter to check input and output voltages - to determine if the switch is bad and not passing voltage, or if input to the switch is missing.

There is a diagram on the inside of the cover. You can also follow the cord from the cord reel into the transfer switch to identify the gen power. There is no fuse. Normally the switch fails to the generator side. Check the voltage coming into the switch from the generator and report back your voltage.

On my 19, same as the 21, there is a communication wire, looks like a telephone connection on top of the transfer case.. If it is not making connection as mine wasn't the generator signal does not come through to the Vega Touch. It took 20 minutes fooling with mine to get generator power to come on while on the way to NIRVC for the trade in.

Larry, LWBAZ did a nice photo post on fixing that wire and it faulty connections. He saved my bacon making that post just a couple of days before my trip. After his post, I was able to go right to the problem.

There's nothing scary inside the transfer switch. It's pretty straight forward once you take the cover off. 2 power lugs in (shore and generator) and one going out (house). The worst part is fitting into a cramped space to work.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. The bad news is that unless I am missing something, the transfer switch cover is closed with one screw in lower left and pop rivets elsewhere. So I can’t get it open. Is there something I’m not seeing?
The good news is that I did a 12V reset and now the transfer switch is switch power from the generator to coach. Perhaps even more importantly that after turning off generator and reconnecting shore power that is still working also.

The rivets you are seeing are likely holding clips on the inside edge of the huge unit. Remove the screw and tug on the cover. It should come off.

Cover has two screws on opposite corners. On mine one top left the other bottom right.


The rivets, as was mentioned, are there for clips on the inside edge of the cover
