Transfer Switch Issue

Has anyone had a similar problem to what I am experiencing. Generator will start and run. However with inverters on it won't switch over and absorb charge. In fact with generator on and inverters off, I don't have any power to refrig, TV'S, micro, AC, nothing. I have checked all resets on generator, inverters, and breakers above driver. Did the transfer switch go bad? Where is it located on Anthem. Thanks.

Sure sounds like either the transfer switch is bad, or the output breakers on the generator have tripped. Check those first.

Don't know about the Anthem, but the transfer switch is almost always immediately adjacent to the power cord reel or connection point.

Chad, did you recycle the breaker, turn it off then on again, on the front of the generator?

The transfer switch is located right behind the power cord reel, it is the large metal box attached to the rear wall.

If your generator breakers are not tripped, use a meter to see if you have 110V at the transfer switch. Check from both Hots (black and red) to neutral (white) on the incoming and outgoing sides. If you have power coming in but nothing going out, you have a bad transfer switch.

Thanks for the comments. Found the transfer switch. I have cycled the switch on the generator. Nothing was tripped. Still no success. Looking like transfer switch.

Do you have 120v power any where in the coach while on genset? How about on shore power? If selected circuits are out, eg frig, microwave, etc, but you have power elsewhere, you might try the reset switches and or breakers on the inverter. If the inverter circuit is down, you wont get power to the aforementioned appliances, either on genset or on shore power [inverter bypass mode].

I agree with the above. Please specify if you have the same problems when hooked up to shore power. I also agree on checking the breakers for the items that are out.

Note to Entegra|. Give owners an easy to follow electrical diagram of their coach.

The AC & DC power in any RV is very basic. Inverters takes DC power and turn it into AC power. A converter takes AC power to DC power and also changes voltage and frequency for some devices. But in general the electrical system in our coaches in not complicated.

The only confusion is that we ( the owners ) don't have an easy to read electrical schematic to follow and help us trouble shoot.

I have reset the inverters but that didn't correct the problem. These are great suggestions and comments that I will try.

I would disconnect all power, hit the main power off, shut off all breakers, go disconnect the chassis batteries, shut the genny down, unplug the coach and start turning power back on.

Turn chassis batts on, plug in to shore power, hit main power, then start turning on breakers one at a time and see what that does.

Note if you have power to some things but not all you may have lost a leg. If you have a multimeter or a simple volt meter hi check every outlet and see if you have between 110 and 130 VAC

Suspect list:
Generator (non-operational)
Circuit breakers on Generator (Tripped)
Transfer switch
Generator (Operating outside normal pramaters)

These following also affect shore power

Inverter's source circuit breaker (In main breaker panel).

Wires and connections.

Just last week I replaced my transfer switch. I had no 110 volt on shore power but when I started the generator, I did. Replaced the transfer switch and back in business.
