After memorial day we are visiting friends around Dayton Ohio then we’re going to head up the western coast of Michigan & head up to Hearthside Grove Motorcoach Resort in Petoskey.... The GPS is routing me up Highway 31 from Indianapolis, on Google map it looks pretty good just wondering if anybody’s traveled that route? 2nd question: never been to western Michigan/northern Michigan suggestions on what to see and do... thanks ✝️[emoji120]

Rt 31 from Indy North is fine. That is how I drive coach to Entegra.

You'll miss the Tulip Festival, but, DeZwann windmill is interesting.

Also, you might consider a day trip to Macinac Island. https://www.mackinacferry.com/schedules/ https://mackinac.com/ The view from the porch of the Grand Hotel (https://www.grandhotel.com/packages/...kaAvLaEALw_wcB) is spectacular.

Not too far away is the Soo Locks: https://www.saultstemarie.com/attractions/soo-locks/ That gets you a drive across the Macinac Bridge, too.

Highway 31 is my kind of traveling. Would much rather take the scenic routes and see the county as the Interstates and see the truck traffic. Stu gave good advise of what to see. A few nice wineries in the Traverse City area and beautiful estates out in that country side. Being a retired Realtor, that is my kind of things to see.

Charlevoix is worth the drive, nice town. It is road construction season in MI, so do use Waze or other traffic maps.

If you do Harvest Host and like aircraft, there is the Grissom Air Base Museum in Kokomo right on Rt31, we have parked in their lot overnight and enjoyed the museum and the overflying C17s. Nice museum too.

31 is a good road to Petoskey MI. I have been that route a few times and have had no issues. Beautiful drive up that way and plenty of options to place tourist up the coast of Western Michigan.

I agree with Stu’s recommendations. We spend a lot of time up that way.

Frankenmuth, Michigan is off your route towards the center of the state but if you have time it is a beautiful quaint Bavarian town famous for its home style chicken dinners. Well worth the detour.

AND Grand Traverse Distillery in Traverse City is a small craft distiller, they create the most AWESOME Cherry-Infused whiskey I have ever found! Just saying.....
