Traverse Bay RV Resort
Thinking of purchasing a lot there and wondered if anyone has anything to share (good or bad) about the resort.
Does anyone own there that can share information? Just trying to do my due diligence.

Pat - we stayed there before Summerfest 1. I have had a lot of experience in the Traverse City area going back a while and really wanted to spend time there. We love the area. The park is terrific and our site was on the water. There are woods paths for the dogs and there seemed to be a lot of activity. It is in a great location to enjoy TC and surrounding towns like Sutton's Bay and Lelanau.
I just reread the reviews on RV Park Reviews. As was noted several times, the pet rules seem a bit onerous and the owner can be a difficult. Our biggest issue was that people were really not very friendly. We walked our dog and said HI to folks, but had few if any responses.
I would/will stay there again - not sure I'd buy.

Pat, we stayed there in 2010 over Labor Day weekend when our windshield was blown out by a turkey in the U.P. We waited for the replacement to come into TC for 4 or 5 days and were welcomed with open arms. We were invited to a large Labor Day cookout at the clubhouse ... one of the hosts even came by the MH to make sure we would be there. Maybe they felt sorry for us, but we thoroughly enjoy our stay there. The site we were on was for sale and Karen wanted to buy it she enjoyed the stay there so much. The Casino...Not so much

We stayed there for a night or two back when they were first getting started. (Free!) They loaned us their Mitsubishi electric vehicle so we could do laundry in the club house. Great place. We didn't see many / any others. It was early in the season. Great area though!

We have stayed there and enjoyed the place. Nice size for walking and we found most folks very friendly, actually. I know they are planning a large expansion on the end where most of the larger coaches park. There are all sorts of units in the park and it seems to have grown in sections over the years. The newest part seems destined to try and compete with Hearthside (my humble opinion only.) which probably means bring money. Friends of ours already own a lot in there (several years now) and really enjoy the place and the location to all the Traverse City and Petowsky area. They have a fifth wheel parked on their site and use it a lot...and that was the reason for our visit.
Keep in mind that the land immediately across the highway is under construction heavy earth moving and grading done) for construction of a Meijer huge box store. This will be handy in some respects but will definitely increase the traffic out that way enormously. The park is far enough off the road so it may be a moot point, but.......
My personal reaction to their sales pitch and knowing of two older, existing sites that are on the market is that buying new there is pretty expensive but the lot our friends bought from a private owner reselling was actually rather reasonable..
If you like the area and want to be in reasonable proximity to restaurants and other attractions it certainly could work well for you.

Yea, the owner can be a little ornery. He really wants the place perfect and spotless and took great umbrage in me taking apart the power post to fix the cable TV connection....LOL. He came around to my way of thinking but it was touch and go when he first found out.
