I'm just guessing here but if it had come off while he was driving it would have made a fair amount of noise for more than a few minutes. Also it probably would have torn the wire connects up and beat the heck out of the roof as it departed.

As I see it there are only a few things that could have happened. 1. It left the factory without an antenna installed. Probably not but possible. 2. The dealers sales or service department removed it to repair another unit and failed to replace it. Big no no but also done at times. 3. Someone removed it at the storage lot. The problem here is they would have to know the unit numbers and other things to know it would work on the coach they were stealing it for. If they were stealing the unit they would have removed the base as well because the Turret is useless without it's base.

So I'm going with #2. In either of the first two scenario's the dealer is at fault. If the PDI had been done properly they would have caught the missing antenna. Then if they had done a proper delivery they would have done the same thing, seen that it wasn't there or verified it was there and working. Turning the box on inside and "saying see it light up and works" isn't enough.

If just the dish itself came off, it is pretty light, and may of not made much noise at all. I have heard of the dish bolts coming loose, also rusting, which tends to make me want to dob sealant on them. Do you think that would interfere with the function of the dish?

EDIT: I just read some info on the recall. It looks like the whole darn thing can come loose due to the layup of the roof. They ran out of I believe Luan and used something else which evidently is not strong enough to hold the dish in place. So they are adding some kind of base plate to it.
As I am typing this and thinking, the whole darn roof isn't very strong then. There are a few things up there on the roof, like AC. Hmm.

I'm thinking we may need to start making daily posts to this thread that the question of what happened has been answered... a little prior reading will show that even this post is a repeat of that; post #31, post #48, post #54.
