Trav'ler / hopper 3 / DPH42 ?

I've been using my hopper 3 with a hybrid LNB on my trev'ler since they came out. Kinda a hassle having to unplug the hopper every time I raise the dish, so I bought the new DPH42 switch with power inserter.

It's on today's list to put the original LNB back on, mount the DPH42 physically on the roof, the power inserter in the (44B) television cabinet.

I currently use a single COAX hookup. Straight from #1 on the trav'ler to the input of the hopper, no nodes, no switches, nuttin.

Is this thing actually waterproof?
Does it need all 3 input coax's?

I am in the process of doing the conversion from Direct to Dish. I have read that the DPH 42 is "Weather Proof", they do not say it is water proof. The pictures I have seen of it mounted outdoors it is under the eave of a building. That said I to intend to mount mine on the roof. I am looking into covering it with a plastic wall mounted file holder with the open end to the rear. This should offer some protection but still allow ventilation, I have read the DPH 42 runs very warm. Other with actual experience please chime in.

The DPH 42 Switch is waterproof but there is a stipulation that it be mounted vertically. That is to insure none of the coax connectors are up into the rain.

I have mine mounted horizontally under a shelf inside, no problem.

The switch needs all three coax connections from the Trav'ler to the DPH 42 Switch. That is the only way for the Switch to select channel streams from the LNBFs since the internal DPP LMBF multi-switch is bypassed to get the 16 data channel streams.

The Trav'ler will seek a lot better with the DPP LNBF instead of the DPH LNBF head.

2017 Entegra has all three DISH coax running from roof to cargo bay (plus additional DirecTV coax) so why not just install it inside the cargo bay?

BTW I have the same setup with the Hybrid LNB and just used an A/B switch to prevent the hopper 3 incompatibility. Admittedly tho it is still another step to remember so I'm considering going to the DPH42 also.

I'd love to. Where oh where are they? Cargo bay is a big place. All sorts of mystery panels and hidden stuff down there...
What's there?
I've toned from 1 to front TV and 2 to bedroom TV...

On the roof they are under one of the dummy roof vents near the dish.

In the cargo bay from the small door on the passenger side where the battery shutoff switches are, look up you should see the direct TV SWM equipment. I found mine just aft of that tucked up behind the slanted vanity panel. The three have red, green and blue tape on them.

See my post here which has some of that info with pictures: http://www.irv2.com/forums/f278/dish...ml#post3299228

Fantastic Rob!
Now thatsa great post!
Guessing then I will find ('17 Aspire originally with Dish Trav'ler) 3 coax cables connected together. I'll just have to disconnect them and screw em into my DHP42 switch. And I'll be able to mount the power inserter there as well, and there will be power for it.

The three coax from the roof shouldn't be connected to anything if they have never been used, but right, they will go to ports 1,2 & 3 on the "dish in" side of the dph42. Then the coax to your hopper will connect to the power inserter which will in turn connect to port 1 on the "receiver" side of the dph42.

Good info and diagram here: https://rvseniormoments.com/tech-doc...-your-travler/

And yep there is a 120 volt inverter fed outlet right there for power.

Let us know how you make out...

Cool and Done.
I found all the cables right where they should be, and put the dph42 and power inserter in the basement without touching anything in the a/v cabinet.

Trav'ler locked onto all 3 sats in 3 minutes flat, a small fraction of what it used to take.
And it all happened with everything plugged in and running.

I love it when a plan comes together.

Hey, what's that HDMI switch for?

Awesome!

The HDMI unit is a signal multiplier, it takes the HDMI input from the jack in the AV cabinet that says "Output To All TV's" then boosts it and sends it to all the TV's - that is what you see on HDMI2 on all 4 TV sets. I have my Hopper HDMI output go to the "Output To All TV's" jack and all the TV's play the same content on HDMI2.
