Truckers Antenna Mounting

Just about done figuring out my cell and wireless internet connectivity. Since I'm planning on using the "truckers antenna" I'm not sure how or where to mount it. We're most likely going to end up in an Anthem (2016) and are looking to understand how others have mounted their truckers antenna.

Have others used this antenna? How have you mounted yours and where, if any, did you drill your holes to bring in the cable.

TIA,

-paul

I'd like to find a sanitary way to do this too. I'm thinking about replacing the CB antenna on the DS or my roof with a Wilson Trucker's antenna.

Single Trucker or Twins?

Twin truckers are designed to be mounted on the mirror arms. SOME RV's you can do that (I did on mine but it was a different antenna)

Single Trucker should be mounted top center but on an RV.. NOT going to work there. (Too high) I would go with Twins.. ANd mount them on the side of the RV.. (Assuming not metal sided)

Mount antenna using half a mirror mount or angle bracket (L shape)

Mount one on either side,, Set them to the tip of the antenna is either

13.6 Feet above ground =OR= 1" above highest point on motor home roof (If approaching a low bridge.. Approach slowly,, CREEP, if antenna hits.BACK OF AND Take another route!)

I think the Twins will work best for you.

I'm looking at a single. This would allow me to pull in the cell signal and use within coach for cell phone and wifi internet. I'm going to be mounting an amp and an internal antenna inside. This will give me the best of both worlds.

The antenna is, I believe - don't quote me, 22 inches. So, two thoughts, since I don't have the coach if the OTA is crank-up then it would go there. If not, then possible mounting on the side of coach around the drivers side window. Or even on the top front cap, possibly at a slight angle.

If I had the coach it would be a lot easier to determine where to mount. I have no problems drilling as long as I can see the inside as well as the outside. I've drill many holes on my other coaches with success.

We mounted our trucker antenna for the Wilson Sleek on our OTA. See post http://www.irv2.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1924275

In my prior post I was thinking of CB antennas.. NOT Cellular

The Cellular antenna is much shorter.. HEIGHT IS MIGHT so mount it as high as you can.. Ideally center of the roof but that is not likely practical

Disregard earlier post.

I put my Trucker near center on the REAR of the Motor home as high as I could.. I suggest you use some kind of removable/adjustable mount though as it will not enjoy an encounter with a low hanging branch (Breaks it in a spot that is hard to repair).

My final install will be dual height.. UP will be around 14 feet in the air (parked only) and "DOWN" will be BELOW the roof line (So it's protected from Trees)

Although some of the info may be a little dated, it does answer some questions.....

Communication Phone Antennas and Amps
