Under Pressure

Looking for tire pressure recommendations on a 2015 Aspire 45'. Running Michelin in the front @ 110lbs, Goodyear in the rear @ 90lbs. I know pressure should be determined by coach weight, haven't had an opportunity to do that in the last couple of years. I'm not overloaded by any means, just looking for some suggestions.

Thanks
Jerry

What’s the placard in your unit say? If the tires are the same size as new use the pressures stated.

We have a 2015 Aspire which I put Michelins on the front. I run 120# in them & 95# in the other Goodyear tires. Rides & handles good.

My Anthem was front end heavy and I had to run 125 psi in them, 85 psi in the rears. A CAT scale at a truck stop can get you close enough to safe weights of your MH. Divide the front axle by 2 check the Micheline chart, then add 5 psi for safety factor.
Much safe than guessing and CAT scales are at every truck stop. I use the DOT truck scales on I-75 in Ft Myers they are happy to weigh my coach fro me at no charge.

Jerry,

It is very hard to give suggestions if you do not know your corner weights or at least your axle weights. Any suggestions here will be nothing more that a WAG. Your front end will be the biggest variable. It could be anywhere from 1500 lbs under the axle weight rating to 500 lbs over. Time to get it weighed and set your pressures accordingly.

If you haven't had it weighed how do you know you're not overloaded?
My '02 Dutch Star was only 663#'s under it's GVWR at delivery when the water and fuel tanks were filled and All of that was on the rear axle. The front was over by 50#'s before we ever loaded anything or got in the seats. Newmar had Spartan put a 14,600 # front axle in to replace the 12,000# OEM unit.

Under Pressure

I had my coach corner weighed and used the weights to set pressure. I have new Michelin Z Coach (295s) in the front, Goodyear G670 (275s) in the rear. Tire charts say 110 front, 90 duals, and 85 tags.

Not having the opportunity to get your coach weighed over a "couple years" span of time, is a pretty weak excuse!

The front axle is the biggest issue, and I would not just want to wing the pressures on a WAG. At the very least, you should find a truck stop with a CAT scale and weigh your front axle (if nothing else). A front axle blow out is the thing most of us stay awake at night worrying about. The CAT axle weight will give you a lot of information. However, the problem is that many Entegra coaches have been lop sided, with very narrow margins on the driver side (if any safety margin). That is the one that I would have to know to be reasonably comfortable with the weights and pressures.

Any GOOD RV sales lot should be able to do 4 corner weights (weights at each tire location) and they should not cost more than about $75. But if that is impossible, then a CAT axle weight would be next best and that is available at virtually any truck stop.

My driver side front #7680-P side #7940 Axle2 D side #7160 P side #8260 tag axle Dside #4460 P side #4860.... 2018 aspire Michelin’s all the way around... The chart and Michelin tell me 120 pounds in the front and 75 on all the rears. I went 120 in the front and 85 in the rear... What’s everybody think about that?

John,

I thought min pressure on the 275 Goodyears were 90 psi. I run 110 psi on the front axel with the Michillen X Coach 295 tires. 110 psi puts you at max axle weight on the Aspires with the I beam front end. I have ~200lb margin on my front axel and that was when we were full timing. I also have chosen not to increase my house battery capacity as the added weight would eat in to what little weight margin I have on the front axel
