Valid air parameter adjustment?

Hi folks,

Is it possible to adjust the valid air TPMS parameters? Mine have never worked correctly so I installed external TST's. The valid parameters are too narrow. I keep getting high pressure warnings when the pressure is normal. Can I disable it altogether?

Same problem many of us have. It will take the $300 Valid tool to adjust it. Gary Jones did a long post on how to do it, only to have all of the wheel batteries die. The cost to replace them all and go though all the setup again was not worth it, I believe he purchased a TST.
My 19 was a nightmare, my 21 is OK except for the summer months in FL. When the batteries die, I'll switch to a TST and have peace on the dash again.

Bruce you can move the parameters up or down, but you can’t increase or decrease the spread between high and low, at least not on our 2020.

Do you know the procedure? I could not figure it out.

I installed TST externals which are great. The valid air sensors never worked correctly. Needed 1" alligator stem extenders for the front and tag tires

I have had TST for a few years. I can set them wherever I want.

TST can be set.... the Valid tire pressure system not so much. I ignore my internal Valid system and pay attention to the TST.

TST is nowhere close to perfect system either. For reasons I fail to understand, my unit will not switch on and off with the on-board switch which seems to do nothing at all. I have to unplug it and let the battery run down.

Worst part of the system is that the illumination is worthless during the daytime.... way too low illumination to see in the sun. I assume that if a tire gets low, the alarm will make me aware of something that needs attending to. However, the display can only be see well after dusk and is virtually worthless during the daytime (unless I am not doing something correctly). I have complained to the manufacturer several times already and essentially get a "sorry, we can't change that issue" answer which is worthless to me.

Gary,
I agree with you 100% on the TST brightness! Their manual says to not leave it plugged in. The switch works when unplugged. I charge mine fully the day before I leave. It's good for at least 2 days travel then.
Later...
Ray

I think TST makes a visor for the display. HAs anyone tried it?

You have to have the control box to set the valid air. NIRVC raised mine so I don’t get any caution or high pressure warnings, but if I was somewhere cold overnight I would probably get a low pressure caution.
Problem with the valid system is cost to replace the sensors. $100 from Spartan and then the cost of removing wheel/wheels to replace the sensors.
If you have dealer do it probably close to $450 per wheel is what I was quoted.
I still have my EEZ tpms so when valid goes I’ll just install the EEZ and drive on.
I use the EEZ on the toad and just lay the receiver in the center tray. If anything is wrong it will give a warning.

My external TMPS is working great and also covers my tow vehicle. It is user controllable. I change the batteries each year for almost no cost and all 12 tires take about a half hour.

My Valor system now works after Spartan added antennas to my rear axels.
But I get over pressure alarms when it is warm out and we drive a few hours. My Valor pressure alerts are to low. I am going to try to get Spartan to raise my values when I go to see them in December.

The false alarms bug me. I hope to have that fixed. It would be nice to have a way to turn the system off if needed with no alarms or alerts. I expect when my tire sensor batteries fail I will just not deal with them. Hopefully they will just not report but not give alerts.

Maybe the time to replace the batteries is when you replace the tires.

Any system the user has no control over settings or the internal batteries do not last the average age of the tires is sub standard.

If Valor TMPS was offered as an option I would not pay for it. Many reasonable cost alternative TMPS systems are available even though that is one more little screen / box you have to find a place for in the drivers area.

Dunno if this helps or just energizers the trolls. My Valid TPMS is certainly not as good as my old TST, but I’m trying to live with it during my chassis warranty. I bought the Valid TPMS tool off another RV-er on eBay. I live in Florida and tend to drive in the South and West where it gets hot…not in Michigan where Valid must’ve tested this setup. I used the table for the Valid tool and increased my upper limits by 5 psi on all the wheels. Example, the fronts have a factory max of 149 psi. I set mine to 154 psi. I know that sounds crazy but who inflates their 130 psi tires to 149psi anyway. I know what the values should be set at. I don’t need an idiot alarm. I’ve always checked my tire pressures, with a gage, cold, and let them run where they run all day. It’s the Minimum pressure I’m concerned about. If I set my fronts at 130 psi using a reliable gage when cold, I don’t care what that crazy Valid system rises to….it’s the minimum I care to see. I think the Valid sensors don’t compensate for temperature correctly. I understand Boyles law of thermodynamics and pressure goes up when the tires get hot, but these tires ran fine for 100 years when set properly. I check my tires every few days and change them for major altitude changes. Since the change very few warnings.
