Vega Touch and floor heat

When on Environmental page, why do I only see floor heat listed in kitchen area? I thought it was three zones. It seems to have about 10 levels of heat. The manual is very weak regarding this subject.

On my 19 the kitchen is the center of the coach, good place for the floor heat icon, so I never questioned it.

Prior to Vegatouch floor heat was activated using the Zone 2 control when on Gas Heat. But there are no separate zones for floor heat. So the location of the icon is not significant.

Thanks for clarification, just a curious newbe here, wasn't sure what is heated and what is not.

As little as I used floor heat, that was confusing. I was always going back the instructions that Marc, MRUSA wrote when I needed to use floor heat. I guess I was just glad to finally see easy access to floor heat.

The floor heat is all through out the coach. It is all one zone. They run a pex pipe in the floor and zig zag it around. From what I have been told is it takes a while to start feeling the heat and when you do you can feel where the pipe is.

Air Conditioning We live in FL and most of our traveling is warm weather. If we get caught in chilly mornings it's usually just the fireplace. If it's cold enough to need the floor heat, we are normally heading home.

We use the floor heat when the outside temp is about 55 or below. Since heat rises it tends to keep the coach warm enough for us, especially on sunny days, until it gets down below 50.

Then it's a toss up whether to use the furnace or the heat pumps. We like the furnace better for two reasons. It's quieter than the heat pumps and the registers are down low, again, heat rises. The exception is when we want to heat up quickly, for instance we've driven from warmish weather to a colder area. The heat pumps seem to heat up the entire coach quicker as there are more registers.

Obviously if it's below 35-40 the heat pumps no longer produce warm air, turn them off. And the furnace, with the floors turned all the way up work just fine. JMHO

Here's a "Tuesday with PJ" YouTube video that includes a description of floor heating:

Although it's not specific to a '19 42DEQ, you'll get a good understanding of how the system works and the best way to use it.

Take care,
Stu
