Vega touch flashing screen.
Anyone else have had this issue and what’s the fix. Rebooted 12 v many times. Unhooked main power. No change. Screen just flashes dark to light. Have call into Entegra aft hours. But waiting on call back. And we are at a camp ground this evening. When I parked it was fine for first two hours. Then flash flash flash

Question, when the Vega Touch screen goes down, does the app still work?

Good question Chuck, I also wonder what happens when you select Vegatouch on the GPS screen. Can you control anything from that screen? You may want to try to call Firefly tomorrow, might catch someone working Saturday.

I can answer that question. NO. The app will not work. My Vega touch processor crashed. New one to be sent. I was hoping the app would work so we could stay at the RV Park. No dice. We packed it in and headed home. Luckily we were only 30 min away.

Thanks for answering that question.....no backup. I sure hope the "new and improved" Vega Touch in the 19's is what they say it will be. I had a nice talk with Jerry at Firefly the other day. They are excited about their new system and software they are now writing themselves. However there is nothing you can do if the processor crashes, even the new wifi update feature would not work......nothing to process it.

Is the VegaTouch just an iPad or Android pad running their software? Would it be practical to have a spare in the same sense as we all carry a spare serpentine belt? I have no idea.... this will all be Greek to me for a while!

The Vegatouch on the 19s is a different hardware/software system than the 17s and 18s. However, my experience over 50 years is if solid-state electronics don't fail in the first 30 days they will probably run for years. I think the problem Slice is having is an aberration.

Victory Blue. Same thing firefly guy said when I talked to him last evening about this Vega touch panel. They just don’t have problems with them anymore. Just my luck !!

The biggest change that Firefly made going from the 17’s , 18’s to the 19’s was the elimination of Crestron. Firefly redesigned the system and this is evident in the new user interface that I saw while at NIRVC a few months ago.
I was told by Firefly that they were having issues with writing code to interface with the Crestron. We still have a “red” failure light lit on our Crestron unit that cannot be explained by Firefly. Not concerned with it since my system is up and running, but still have not received any email back from Firefly about it when they told me that they will look into it and get back to me.

I have seen the failure curves of digital ICs and you are right,
.... they are a rapidly descending curve over the first couple of weeks and then pretty flat at a very low rate of failure over many months after.
But the problem with integrated, centrally controlled systems, is when the central control unit goes, often virtually everything goes.....so, still wonder what the Vega—touch panel would cost us to replace. Glad to hear that the official story is that the problems are a thing of the past. Being a new owner of this system, I must admit that it has been one of my major sources of anxiety about what I am getting myself into.... I’m depending on you 17 and 18 owners to get all the bugs resolved now.

Time for a solid nudge in a second call.

Well that may be true and it may help, but things have been working very well for us.
As for being out of the woods, I wouldn’t count that chicken yet. As I stated, what you’ll be getting is a completely new design based on the elimination of the Crestron from the system. I would suspect that the hardware has remained the same and all that has changed is new code which has implemented a new user interface. Will be interesting to hear how the new Vegatouch system works when a lot of the 19’s roll out and get put to use.

Your telling me that much of the system is all new in '19 (software at least) does not decrease my anxiety.... If the system starts demanding that I equalize at 3 in the morning, or dumping my black tank at 4:30 am, a hammer might be the only solution....

Just a guess, but I’ve been using the Vegatouch since day one, in our 2017, and what I saw at NIRVC was a completely different user interface than mine. Like I said, I’m sure the main panel is the same. Maybe some modifications to the hardware, but I think all field testing will be performed by the new users of the 2019 coaches. Just like us 2017 owners were. I like some aspects of the new interface, others I could do without.
The real nice thing I heard of was that the software updates can be done on line. For us 2017 owners we had to send our hardware back for updates. And I still think that’s true today.
