VegaTouch Mira Location and Time Input
My Xite Infotainment System has been gone for a while now and I have no regrets. The Garmin equipped Kenwood head unit is performing flawlessly and the MDVR satisfies my exterior camera requirements. But I am missing one component ... a time update for the Firefly system.
Has anyone found a workaround to keep the Firefly time and time zone of course current without Xite?

Following this as well. I don’t know of a work around hopefully someone does.
My 17 coach would loose GPS occasionally for a few days.
That would then make the vegatouch time wrong.
I would then manually set the time but it was via the dash not the vegatouch.
An example of software designers setting in their cube saying hey I will make this “Easier” for coach owners and set the time automatically for the vegatouch from GPS time.
I would prefer to be able to set the time via the vegatouch. At least have the option.

A guess would be because the Vegatouch hardware has no built in real time clock.
Did the xite unit have an RV-C connection? That's often an orange or green cable with a 4 pin connector. If so, it's possible it was broadcasting the time that way. The RV-C spec accommodates time and date. See section 6.4.2.
Someone with a similar coach with the same Xite version, that is also running an eRVin system, could scan the network and see if one or more of the following DGN's is present:
DATE_TIME_STATUS
SET_DATE_TIME_COMMAND
GPS_DATE_TIME_STATUS

Thanks RVFunlovers! I appreciate the confirmation that I'm not just making this stuff up ...

Thanks VoltDoc! In answer to your question, according to the RiverPark folks "The Vega Touch is connected to the Xite system through the twisted Green, White, and Black wires that lead to a 4 pin connector on the back of the core unit of the Xite." I'll keep my fingers crossed there's someone out there that fits your description and is interested in this issue ...

Hi Gordon,
If you're not in a big hurry, I may fit voltdoc's (Rob) description.
My '18 Anthem is equipped with the Xite infotainment system and I do have, thanks to Rob, the capability to query the RV-C network using eRVin.
I can't offer quick assistance because I won't be back to my coach for another week, or so, and, I'm not sure whether there has been any change from the Xite system in my '18 Anthem and the one you've removed from your '20 Aspire.
The good news, for you, is that I plan to cross paths with Rob on Feb. 7th. He's much more RV-C literate than I and I'll be happy to let him have access to my RV-C network to see if we/he can sleuth out a solution to your challenge.
Take care,
Stu

Ok, good info. Does the connector look anything like this or this? if not could you post a photo?
Unless I run into another Entegra owner willing to let me take a look at their network, I'll get together with Stu in a couple of weeks.

The short answer is that I am in fact in no hurry and would appreciate any effort that you and Rob might be inclined to undertake on my behalf.
Many thanks in advance,
Gordon

In the "for what it's worth" category, I'm learning a lot about the CAN system in my coach. For instance, I have discovered via schematics from our Firefly friends that the Xite receiver is not only on the trunk of the CAN (versus a drop tap) but has one of the required two trunk terminations housed within it.
Now my network only has one termination because the head unit has been removed. The diagram is attached if anyone's interested.
At the very least I would think that I need to install a second termination where the trunk line ends. Am I doing damage operating with only one termination for a short period? The coach is parked at the house until late April ...

Good catch!
You do need to have a terminator (120 ohm resistor) on each end of the trunk or there will be reflections causing instability. But it won't do any physical damage.
To verify, with all power off, put an ohmeter across the can-high and can-low wires (usually blue and white in a firefly network), that should read around 60 ohms. Two 120 ohm resistors in parallel (one on each end of the trunk) will read 60 ohms. If it reads closer to 120 you are indeed missing a termination. If it reads significantly less than 60 you would have too many terminators.
Here's a photo of the termination on the back of my G6. The terminator is a simple half watt resistor in the lower right corner crimped into a 3M mini clamp plug.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/oaq6ydqbq41zMh5Y8
You can just get an ordinary half watt 120 ohm resistor and hook it up any way that makes sense for the connections you have. There is no polarity.
The color code is brown-red-brown, a forth silver band is 10%, a gold band is 5% tolerance.

Copy that ... I'll address that asap ...
Thanks you Sir!

With the termination in place and both switches off, I'm getting 42 ohms across that circuit. Hopefully that's in the acceptable range ...

Hi Gordon1152, sorry, that’s close but no cigar. It looks like you still have a total of 3 termination resistors still. 1/(1/120+1/120+1/120)=42Ω
If possible find the terminator that’s physically in the middle of the circuit and remove it. Ideally you will have a termination at the physical extreme ends of the CANBUS network. It doesn’t have to be perfect but the further apart the two terms are the smaller the reflections will be.
Also Im pretty certain that one of the terminations is built into the G6 panel (or whatever main panel your coach has).
