I sure would NOT use a brush on my paint.

Not the way sofeners work, they work as an an ion exchange. They don't add salt or potassium chloride to the water at all.

the calcium & magnesium attaches to resin bed thru the ion exchange. (kinda like a magnet) the salt or potassium chloride is only used during the backwash or regen to release the calcium and mag. and wash it out of the resin bed.

where RO passes the water through a membrane that has holes only big enough for water, but not the ions. This removes most of the ions, good and bad, from the water. Then you need to add back the good ions (sodium, chloride, calcium, magnesium, carbonate, iodide, etc = SALT).
you don't add anything back, that defeats the purpose.

The water from an RO is drinkable as pure water.

Now if you have a RO large enough it will remove all the calcium & mag therefore, no need what so ever for softener.

My setup is a commercial grade filter like the one by Nova Filters pics below.

that will purify the water (not soften)

it will last 18 months before the elements need changing or 26,000 gallons.

they sell for about $400

there's another pic of the filters that was after about 8,000 miles or 4 months of rv'g

I can drink the water at any RV park it will be pure.

in addition I have an RO at the sink with a separate faucet for even purer water.

I've spoken to these people at Nova they know water filtration and ship anyplace.

Described above is the result of the after "Back wash procedure"....

I'm sorry I can't answer your questions. I saw them wetting the side of the coach with a power washer and then start the machine down the side to wash, but couldn't watch the whole cycle. From its configuration I don't think the machine does anything to the roof.

It uses what looked like strands of soft microfiber material. Not like what you would find at a car wash with the spinning brushes, although operationally it works in the same manner. I inspected them and felt of them myself.

I couldn't tell you if it leaves brush marks, but I do my own cleaning and detailing for that reason so I understand your concerns. If I do have a mobile service do it I give them the equipment to use and they are normally happy to do it.

I'm just curious, how are you guys scrubbing the coaches?

I use genuine lambs wool products, not the imitation.

What are you guys using?

Thanks,

-Matt
