Water fill

A bit confused about why my water pump runs when I fill the fresh tank?
Using the driver side fresh water fill, I have to turn off the water pump or it runs the whole time while filling. I am guessing that the water must run in and out of the water pump when filling and/or using water from fresh tank? Has anyone figured out how to recipe or reroute the water lines so the pump can be used when filling the fresh tank?

That's normal. Think of the water pump pressurizing the tank. Allow air into the tank, the pump runs trying to pressurize it. On the monitor panel in the wet bay, there is a switch to turn the pump off while filling the tank.

OK, so why can't the pump be routed with a waterline only from the fresh tank? So, when the water fill switch is turned from city water to fill tank it doesn't affect the water pump?

Must be an Entegra thing. My old Alegro bus worked that way.

Just shut off while filling.

I know why the OP is frustrated. It can take 20-30 minutes for the fresh water tank to fill and during that time you cannot use water in the coach. For some this may not be a big deal, for those of us who forget to tell DW it is

That's why I never fill my tank that way. I always fill from the passenger side. Only takes a few minutes to fill 'er up.

When in an area where water needs to be filtered, we run it thru the D/S city fill...so it goes thru our on board house filter and water softener.

Fill valve is 'tied' into RV Cold water plumbing line
With pump ON ...open fill valve causes drop in system pressure....pump pressure switch closes/pump runs to bring system pressure back up
BUT with Fill Valve open pump just 'Round Robins' ---pump sucks water up from fresh water tank then discharges back into fresh water via fill line

I filter all my water at the post, before it comes into the coach with this: https://www.rvwaterfilterstore.com/w...riple-canister
I need to look at getting a water softener too.

our water softener and main house filters are all "built-in" to a cargo bay, that way all our water is treated before going into coach and water tank. any water I were to add via P/S fill would be untreated. the system works well for us, except when I refill the fresh tank from the street water supply. has to be a way to reroute at water line so water isn't cut off when filling the fresh tank. will check with Entegra for water schematics. should be a way to separate the water pump from the fill valve system.
