In my Aspire, I had space next to the on-board vac system to mount the dual filter. I have some images on my phone, but left it at the office. Ran 2 10' hoses, 1 from the hose reel to the filters, and the other from the filters to the city connection. All water gets filtered going into the coach, including the on board tank, and the existing on-board filter will filter the water from the tank again when using the pump. (just get to buy more filters)

Very similar to my thinking, but I hadn't looked at that bay. I was going to put it near the existing filter. I'll check in the morning. Right now the dual filter is sitting outside in a bow with lines leading in and out to avoid the sun on the clear tank.

Big difference in water quality from the city line already

Johnny, don't mean to hijack your thread on filters.

I could not really fit this filter in my wet bay, and it was crowded by my existing filter. This location worked good for me. (driver side, electric reel bay) I will put the filters in next month when we begin traveling. The RV Filter Store has many filter options available.

RainX and squeegees are no longer required if you have a good water softener. Shower dries spotless; windows, MH and car too!
Good suds in the shower, no toidy stains, no crystalization on the faucet screens, no pressure/volume decrease due to crystalization on the metal hose fittings.
I use 2 whole-house filters. One before the softener, one onboard to feed live or fill the fresh tank. I change them every 3 months, except in Yuma; they get brown in about a month depending on location there.

BTW, my filters are in clear canisters so I can see them and change as required. Most RV filters don't give you a clue.

I thought the reason most canisters are blue or white was to keep outside light from encouraging algae growth???

They are both in light-tight enclosures.

Instructional for any DIYer - clear water filter canisters should be protected from sunlight.

With the metaltrap system I use the "metal filter medium" is enclosed in a white plastic casing and you can't see through it at all. No need for a clear cannister there. The sediment filter is second in line and almost looks like a roll of dense paper towels. Water testing reveals that the quality has dropped below my preference and yet the sediment filter never looks that bad. I don't feel like I can "see" that the filters need changing as readily as I can test for it. So I don't feel the need for a clear canister. But that's a matter of choice I suspect.

Wish I had a pic of the brown ones from Yuma. In 2 to 2.5 weeks it was like this.

You have a nice setup. The important thing is we both have good filters AND a good softner!

The interesting thing is that we all are adding filtration and softening solutions to protect investment up and down "quality" spectrum.

That's a fact, Steve. I bought it used with crystalized stuff in all of the metal hose fittings and faucet strainers. The soft water disolved it all away! Pressure, volume, spot-free shower, and most important, clean plumbing!

After two weeks of a dual filter system (Not permanently installed yet but protected from the sun) I was amazed at how dark the primary filter is.

I am curious where you are that causes the dark filter. Places in Yuma do it. Do you use a softener?

We're in Florida. I haven't ever had a clear housing before so I can't say if this is unusual.
