Probably not your issue - but I was with some friends at a Gulf Coast (Texas) RV park and they didn't realize there were 2 water lines at the site. 1 was for drinking - the other was well water washing down rigs - road etc. He was complaining but they water. Showed him my filters and softener. Very interested. Came back and said - did you know there are 2 water lines??? lol.

You'll figger it out like I did. When you can see the filter, you stay one step ahead! I check the first filter every week or so. In PA, I never need to check.
We are West of Tucson, and after 2 weeks, the filter is only tainted, and only half way on the water hard scale.
Tucson has been the worst for us so far, after 3 years of fulltime.
Wonder if it is sediment you are seeing, or high iron. Do you test it?

No - I know I should. I just was moving the coach this morning and saw the filter. We left the coach for about 10 days so I'll look at it more closely when I get back.

I look forward to hearing it.
Do you have a softener?

I've been using one of these and test strips both for water quality, metals, and softness. I wouldn't rely on visual inspection of a sediment filter as indication of water quality. If a sediment filter is really dirty - nothing will pass through it. And a carbon or other "chemical and microbe / pesticide" type filter is sealed. You can't see in it at all. So I still don't see the need in seeing a sediment filters condition. Just keep spares and replace as needed.

Flaggship, those are worth there weight in gold. I carry 2 of them, one inside at the sink and one in the wet bay. Some water is not fit for coffee even with my filter setup and water softer. If the water is over 50 PPM we use bottled water for coffee. We can't stand funky tasting coffee.

By taking a quick reading between inside and the outside water (pre filter) it's easy to tell when it's time to change the filters. I purchase mine at Walmart in the RV section, but not all Walmarts carry them. I found if a Walmart has them, it's normally a bad water area.

Why Henweighs of course... lol. Have to look...

Here's one -

http://www.rvwholesalers.com/catalog...FZGIaQodCmMAIw

there are others. Always on the look out for ways to test water. First Alert strips work well but are pricy. Individual strips for copper and other metals are a focus for me as the Metaltrap Ultra Duo 14k gallon metal fikter is pricy at $128. At $27 the sediment / bacteria filter is more reasonable but tossing filters before their time is unnecessary and costly. They are 4" x 10" so not wimpy.

Here you go Mark. I also use one in the S&B so I know when it's time to change the RO filters. They sure take the guess work out of when it's time to change filters.

My first one was from one of the online water stores at $55.00. It stopped working within a year. Saw these at Walmart for $12.00 and they do everything the $55. one did and last twice as long, they even come with a spare battery.

To answer an earlier question - no we aren't using RO for now.

I just checked Walmart, Amazon and another site and all of them are out of stock

This forum has power!

This forum has power!

The cost, space, and waste of cast-off water has turned me off from RO.
Do you have a softener? If so, you are set!

Dave, is there a combination RV water softener/filter system that you know of?

Thanks, Brian
