Chuck is modifying locally available filters at HD or Lowes.
I use exact replacement for the filters..... they are more expensive but they simply snap in and could not be easier to change. The small filter is a WATTS Flow-Pur FP10GKT 5 micron (I think) in-line water filter. Swaps with no screwing around with adapters.... exact replacement.
The bigger filters are the whole house filters and these are just the filter elements that are inside of the larger water filter canister on the left side of the wet bay. The wrench to loosen the bottom section is probably hanging right beside the filter unit. What I bought was four identical filters in one bag. The filters are made by Hydronix and are numbered CB-25-1005. Easy to change. The OEM filter has two rubber gaskets (separate from the filter), one on each end to make a water tight seal. The new Hydronix filters I just bought have the gasket built right into each end of the filter cartridge so need for the separate gaskets.
I bought two of the FP10GKTs from either WalMart mail order or Amazon, and the four Hydronic CB-25-1005s from WalMart or Amazon.
Took a couple days to get them and about 20 minutes to swap them.
They say to change the filters at least twice per year.
