Water Leak - Aspire by passenger side entry
Anyone else have a problem when it rains very heavy that you have water coming in on the passenger side? We have a leak that is not the door itself, but above...the wood panel that houses the awning controls and so forth...the far bottom corner (towards the slide) we have water leaking in and runs down to the floor. Taking our coach in this afternoon to our local repair shop (it is there more than we are using it and less than a year old). I hope they can find it!
Also, the bottom cabinet to the right of the sink that pulls out; I have a nasty musty odor so they are going to take that apart to look for water/mold!!!

We had a similar leak and it turned out to be that they forgot to caulk the hole where the entry door awning wire come thru the wall.

I have the same leak tonight. Have not noticed this before, but not sure if we have been in hard rain while parked. Removed the panel that holds the controls that is behind the flip door over the door, and see the water dripping in about where the awning is attached and the wire may go outside. Will check this when it stops raining - have a towel there now and will monitor.
SusieO, if you had this repaired, can you confirm. I have read that this is a common leak on Entegra's and the caulking or sealant was missed.
I will most likely work on the Enterna bond project that Chuck and many other have posted on here to take care of any future leaks that may develop from the roof and top seams.

After you check what Chuck suggested, holes not filled under door awning, take it to a repair location and have them pull back the trim piece near the top of the outside skin that seals the cap to the side. The leaking source may not be immediately over the door. Sometimes they pull that trim piece off and find a missing screw 10 or 20 ft aft of the leak and water runs down the trim to that radius over the entry door. Water leaks are funny (I know, not funny) that the source can be a long way from where it comes in.
I had a leak like you described on the other side and after a guaranteed fix at the factory it leaked when I was moving around the factory the next day. They pulled it in and pulled nearly all 40 ft of trim until they found the real source. Now dry!

Yes, they fixed our leak. It was the wire and not being caulked properly.

If you are speaking of the door awning wire....that is a large hole. When I loosened my awning up to run the wire for the LED lights on the awning, I was surprised how large that hole was, but it worked out great for adding a new wire and finding the existing hole. It was that large on the outside as well.

Thank you - I will look under the door awning and see if I have the same issue. What are you using to seal these holes, and open screw holes if found? Hopefully a easy fix!

If it helps, this is the same hole under the awning and how it was sealed. If it is not that, probably a screw hole, as many have found, behind the roof trim.
I used brown silicone that I was using top seal the awning back to the roof.
This old post about removing the door awning might help. http://www.irv2.com/forums/f278/tell...ml#post2481052

Got up on the roof, because the drip was coming in higher than where the awning was attached. Have ordered the EternaBond tape to arrive mid week for that projectr, but did discover that when I raised my antenna, the cover over the coax cable that attaches to the mount had come loose, and the rain most likely ran down the cable right through the roof. Have it taped for now and need to determine a way to keep the cover from pulling off - maybe a small hose clamp or something similar.

Mark, I had the same thing happen on my TS. Siliconed it in place, never had a problem again.

Thank you Chuck - that will make it an easy fix.
Not sure if that was 100% of the source of my leak, but it is the first time we have raised out antenna in a while, and the first leak we have had.
Looking forward to the EternaBond project - the goop on the roof now looks awful, and showing signs of wear. I bought the 4" version, and am wondering if I should have got the 6". I know most never see the tops of these rigs, but I still like it to be neat.

The 4 inch covered mine fine. I just received a roll of 2 inch to finish the vents. As soon as we get out of 90% humidify I will finish mine.
You will be surprised how much nicer the Eternabond looks over the sealant.
