Water not flowing to Whirlpool washer

Good morning all,

Trying to use the Whirlpool Washer for the first time,in our new-to-us '14 Anthem 44B. Machine turns on, no water flows and machine turns off. Removed the inspection panel from the inside wall of the closet to access the hoses, but it looks like they are turned on.

What am I missing? Is there another shutoff somewhere?

If there's a water problem, there would be a code on your display. More than likely, you're experiencing the door switch problem that many of us have had. Open and close the door a few times and try again. Sometimes we had to close and hold the door to get the machine to work and other times we slammed the door. The door switch has to be replaced.

We just thought our washer was possessed until we figured it out

To place the washer in diagnostic mode, place the selector in clean mode then press the cancel button twice followed my pressing the start button twice

When a failure mode is detected press the cancel button twice to advance to the next step of the procedure

Agreed!!! We have to sit on the commode and hold the washer door in tight until the machine starts to run. Try the simple things first before you start tearing in too deep. Check out this thread: http://www.irv2.com/forums/f278/whir...ra-345074.html

There is a video on the thread that will show how to fix the door. That is our next step too.

Keep us posted on what you find.

You might also have the filter in the bottom left side, front, of the washer plugged with debris. Scoot the washer aft a little. As much as you can. Remove panel at bottom of machine. Remove round filter by rotating cap CCW. CAUTION: Have a few towels handy as water running out is unavoidable.

Lots of people find loose change, lint, pieces of forgotten paper blocking that filter. We clean ours monthly.

The lower trim panel has 4 screws with a #2 square bit head. Using a extension makes it easy. Also, take the white square spacer between the washer and drip pan. Mine only has 1 screw. Remove kick plate on the washer and the filter is on the right. I have enough room to remove the filter.

Since it starts it’s not the door switch. Can you hear the solenoids snapping open?
If they are not it’s the washer.
Have you tried both hot and cold separately?
Previous owner might not have used washer and disconnected the water lines so they didn’t have to winterize it.
Try tracing the lines.
Good luck. If it’s like mine they are a bear to get to work on.

Not necessarily true. On ours the door would lock, sometimes the drum would spin one turn then fail to start. Lights would start blinking then door would unlock. Our fix was to put washers between the switch and the body of the machine so the white plunger on the door didnt go in so far. Has worked correctly ever since

I hope they find the solution because these things can drive you nuts!

On ours the door would lock, then unlock. the lights would blink and then it would ignore us. Then the next time we tried, it worked beautifully.

We couldn't figure out if the machine was moody, possessed, or going through menopause. Finally, someone on this forum said something about the door switches this type of behavior.

Our coach is at the mother ship and the door switch is on the list to be fixed. I sure hope it works, otherwise, we're calling a Priest for a exorcism. If the demon spirits refuse to depart the washer, it'll be used for target practice after a few stiff drinks.

Hi Chuck,

Pretty sure it's the door switch. Based on this and other posts, mine is showing all of the classic symptoms. Ordered a new switch which should be here tomorrow.

Will let you know.

Cheers,
