Water Pump

( I am copying this post here from another thread for the water Pump Experts to see if they can help Craneboy302) (From Carlsbad Thread)

Hi there we haven a 2015 Aspire. We had it parked at our oldest son place with full hook ups. We were going camping & filled the water tank. It says 100% so we have water. As we were getting ready I disconnected everything & turned on the pump. Heard it running a long time to build up pressure then it quit running. We got to our camping spot way out in BFE if you know what that means. We have no water & couldn’t flush the toilet. Had to borrow a bucket to dip water out of the river to flush. Had to open the drain valve to get enough water for coffee in the morning.
Had a guy who has been RVing for awhile & look at the pump. He pulled the filter off & no water came out. He said my pump was bad.
I had tried to call Entergra but they said the office was closed on the weekend. Use to have a number you could call after hours. I called a person that I know worked there. They had quit because of all the lies they had been telling their customers. I know my factory visit was less then happy & still have a bad taste in my mouth about it. I was trying to find out where the fuse was for the pump.
Finally to my question, do I replace the pump with the same one or update to a better one. Sorry I can’t write a short letter, thanks for the help. B.

Have you tested the wires going to the pump to assure you have power available? If you have 12V. and ground going into the pump and the pump doesn't run you have a bad pump. If you don't have power or ground further circuit checking will have to be done.
Do you have multiple switches in the coach which turn the pump on and off?

If it ran a long time, may have over heated and popped the fuse. The fuse is marked "monitor" in the bathroom fuse cabinet. I know weird labeling, the tank monitors and pump are on the same circuit. Thanks to Nowabeachbum for that tip.

Also make sure the City Fill is closed so the pump shuts off.

Thanks Chuck - didn't know that for the fuse!

Have been conversing with craneboy302 and one other possible idea (if he still has the original Surflo 4008 pump) is the internal check valve can get stuck to the point of the pump runs but no water flows. Removal of the head and pushing on the check valve to unstick solves the problem, at least temporarily.

Another trick to reset the valve is to use the antifreeze fill tube and use the park water hose and simply apply water pressure by holding the tube and hose together by hand.

Thanks Don, I now remember that tip from other threads.

Herb, I have also used the anit freeze fill tube, opened the anti freeze valve, and pressurize it to clear the priming issue - has worked several times for me when the pump runs and does not prime - seems to be an air bubble or possibly the stuck valve Don mentioned)

We often have "pump slow to prime", particularly after filling the onboard tank.

Easiest fix seems to be to open the outside shower valve and pull the trigger until the water flows. Ours will flow weak for a bit, blow a few bubbles, then go full force. At that point all is good again.

If a replacement is necessary, I would suggest the Shurflo 4048. It is a variable speed pump and uses the existing wiring. The reward is slightly better Pressure and flow.
