Water pump cornerstone
I was wondering what you all use to replace the Shurflo 4008-101-a65 water pump in my 2017 cornerstone. I just discovered someone in Lazy days service turned it on and burned it up from running it with empty water tank while it was there for service. And of course they won't live up to their mistake so replacement is on me. I seem to remember reading there might be a better replacement unit being used than the OEM pump.

They can run for days DRY
They do not need any lubrication
Why do you think it is burned up?
Motor smoked...doesn't run....gets hot?
Doesn't pump water?
See pg 3 for troubleshooting

My pump was left on at S&S paint with an empty water tank, my fault, while the coach was in for paint for a few days. The pump didn't burn out, but it was never the same. Very noisy, even with the hush kit, and didn't have the pressure it once did. The upgrade replacement is the Shurflo 4048. It was plug and play and a much better pump that the 4008.

My Shurflo 4008 died. Not from running dry and it was only used occasionally. It would hum but not pump water.
I replaced it and problem solved.
It is a pain to reach the pump on the 2017 Cornerstone with plenty of water lines in the way but an easy fix. Amazon sells both the 4008 and 4048 pumps. Either will work in your 2017 Cornerstone. I don’t know if the 4048 will last any longer. It does pump more water.
I did not have to do anything to prime the pump after I replaced it. I just turned it on and about 10 or 15 seconds later it was pumping water.

I also replaced our Shurflo 4008 with the 4048. Much better.
The 4008 is a 3GPM pump (7.5 Amp Max), versus the 4048 is a 4GPM pump (15 Amp Max). If I remember, someone reported tripping the breaker or fuse after switching to the 4048, but I've never had that problem.
Cheers!

You may or may not want to consider another brand of water pump, but just in case…

Thanks for the help everyone, went with replacing original pump. Only really use it while on the road or when sanitizing.

For what it is worth, my 2019 Aspire has the 4048 and is the original pump as it came from the factory. It is still in service and I do a lot of dry camping at car races. Maybe Entegra has gone away from the 4008. Mine has never tripped the breaker but then again, it may have heavier duty wiring and a larger breaker since it was designed for the 4048.

We don’t do a lot of boondocking either, and the main reason I chose the 4048, was to pressurize the pluming when going from campground hookups to hitting the road. With the 4008, I spent way too much time trying to get the system to pressurize, now it’s a piece of cake. After going through two 4008’s, I decided to give it a try. So far, so good. If the 4048’s are the new standard, must be a reason. I think the 4008’s were just a little too weak for all the plumbing.

Cheers
